I’m not saying it’s out of bounds. I’m saying I’m not going to do it because it would be counterproductive in the long run for me.It’s not out of bounds for a journalist to ask a tough question. If your source and basis for what you ask is strong, it’s your duty too.
If he agreed to interview with a Miami Hurricanes reporter, he has to consider this.
What specifically is not right? You want to ask him off the record and then post it? That would not be right. FYI, asking the tough questions is what will separate you from the others that are just going through the motions. NEVER be afraid to seek the truth, you will gain respect.I post the truth on here because I know the truth but I'm not going to ask those types of questions in a formal interview. That's not right.
Guys this isn’t like interviewing a coach. They’re 16 year old kids and there are a lot of things to consider. There is a difference between not asking Rosemy about an Instagram post and not asking Richt about the offense last year, for example. I believe in my approach. What specifically is not right? Matt, there are many ways to skin a cat and I believe how you phrase the question makes all the difference. For example hey do you believe the program has changed since you made that Instagram comment? If so how has it changed? All in the delivery buddy, but if you still don't see that I'll respect your decision.Guys this isn’t like interviewing a coach. They’re 16 year old kids and there are a lot of things to consider. Playing devils advocate...why not look at it the other way as in....maybe you gain more connections and respect in the long run. You will lose some contacts but you'll also get noticed as a legit reporter, one who spits the truth and doesnt sugar anything.Look. You never know how a kid will react to a question like that. I'm not going to risk damaging my connections at STA over an interview with a kid that's not coming here.
Well he was supposed to visit Miami with Dumervil a few weeks back. Kids are immature for sure and it definitely was dumb thing to post on social mediaWell it's not always that cut and dry. For instance this kid dogged the program and then is saying he wants to be texted more and shown more love. It's a 2 way street. You want love? Give love back. The most resonating thing he's said about Miami so far has been "Miami is dead". I'm not saying don't let him visit or pull the offer, but he needs to show he's serious at this point.
I know I'm late but what did he say about the program? You can't bash the program in public and expect them to show you love behind the scenes. He's a good talent and I wish him the best but he needs to apologize(a la Sam Brooks) to Manny and co if he wants to get recruited like he supposedly wants.
