Manny vs Mario

In 2019 fans said UM had zero talent on offense. A big part of that was Enos. The next season Lashlee turned into a top 25 offense. Then he did it again the next year with a different QB. It impressed the **** out of me. Missed our chance, now we are stuck for five more years.
There was zero shot we were hiring someone from a failed regime for the third time this century.

people can complain all they want but wasting money banners after 10 wins and 3 straight very good recruiting classes, I think next year will be our best, seems counterproductive, spend the money to compete in today's college football, donate for recruits. UF Fans are
Banners are a joke. People donate. Some are losing some faith in the evals. There is not a lot of evidence to point to next year being our best given the schedule and this year's failing close. There is plenty of time between now and August for that to come to pass.

we lost 2 games by 9 points, we may or may not finish better next year, but I think the team will be better next year, and drastically better in 2026 with depth everywhere, our DB's sucked, we brought in a good class last year and again this year, it will improve, and we need a leader in the portal.

losing Cam sucks, but I think we will be a better team with more balance, running the ball keeps your defense off the field.

again worst case Mario keeps to the plan, rebuilds the program and recruiting and the next guy walks into a great spot, something none of our coaches have done since Coker ruined it.

You have a lot of faith in Mario and the plan.

I do, the Macro plan was to rebuild the program, he's doing that.
does he fully succeed in winning NC's, I have no idea, but like I said I think he was hired to rebuild the roster, build deep talented teams and compete.
he's doing that, if he doesn't win in a few years, he will leave us in a way better spot that we have been in for 20+ years.

Fair. I am not convinced the administration has actually improved beyond supporting their guy. The same administration appears to not care if we fold our storied baseball program. We will see what the future of basketball looks like. Our AD seems absentee.

they made the commitment in football
baseball I have no clue, hoping the influx of scholarships helps, its been hard getting pitchers here for a long time.

This should not be a real discussion, but it is. Which is the problem. Mario has underachieved and instills so little confidence he can fix it that we are looking back at the first head coaching experience of a coach who failed here.

We are with familiar foes - can't fire the coach, so better use the buy-out money on NIL until it lowers enough to move on.
It's not actually a real discussion - a lot of you are in your feelings right now. There are others on here that have been sharpening the knives for Cristobal since the day he was hired.

It's a disappointing, but predictable, end to the season, but the progression is crystal clear.

Except Manny won 10 games in year 2 and then fell off a cliff in year 3. Clear regression vs Mario has showed annual progression. Also, Manny won those 10 games during Covid when many programs weren’t as competitive due to the dysfunctions college athletics at the time.
I'm just as ****ed off as everyone else about yesterday but stop rewriting history. Manny didn't win 10 games. He won 8. He was also blown out by Clemson and UNC that year. If you need to be reminded about how bad Manny was, please go back and watch highlights of that UNC game that year when we were also playing to make it to the ACCCG.

Facts are NOT irrational. Irrational is trying to say the #s lie. Will we be better going forward with Mario than Manny, maybe, hopefully, but after 3 years there is no differentiation. Suggest you look up irrational in the dictionary....
We finished 10-2. That’s better than manny.

With a much better schedule next year and Cam leaving, there is a much better shot we are looking at 5 wins that a 10 win season again.

What will be the excuse then? We flew banners instead of donating a few thousand dollars for NIL?

It's a disappointing, but predictable, end to the season, but the progression is crystal clear.

The record is barely better and Cam Ward masked a lot of weaknesses, poor roster management and lack of development.

Outside the investment in the program, (and where are we with that grand football building?) the progress and foundation are a little cloudy.

If the investment is only in Mario and not in the program, then the administration as a whole has not learned much at all and the progress is shaky.

In terms of people having knives out, happens with every coach, but was way worse for Manny and most here jumped on the Mario train but have been let down quite a bit. With those let downs, Mario was pushed and pushed and every allowance and excuse was made - most of which have been proven faulty - so yep - when we choke against an inferior team, he has no answers, the team regresses as the season goes on and he looks clenched **** and anxious - yea, posters are probably going to be more likely to mock the dude’s ardent apologists.

The season isn’t over yet. The roster build for 2025 is not complete. But Mario being disappointing but predictable is really disappointing and predictable with all that was on the table for Miami yesterday.

Cam drove the trajectory and expectations of this years team. We would have been 8-4 without him.

I tend to stay clear of the Manny Mario discussion since Manny has been gone for years but for what we paid and what we got in return, we got shafted!

The criticism for Mario will only grow louder after we take that proverbial step backward that assuredly will come when we lose Cam and X this year.

This season has been exhausting. I'm glad the roller coaster ride is finally over. We were never good enough.
That is optimistic. I don’t see how we win 8 without Cam. UL, VT and Cal are certain losses without him.

they made a commitment to Mario. its the same as before just diff money guys got their guy.

richt was the first coach they actually went in for to change the way we do things admin wise partly bc richt funded some stuff on his own.
