If your going to coach a non p5 team, Houston is arguably the best one to coach
How about the 3 that finished above them in their own division in their own conference?

Aside from Tony Levine, Houston's had, Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin, Tom Herman and now Lane Kiffin. I think they're fine with being a stepping stone if it means winning 9-12 games every year.

Whoever the next coach is, Houston is trying to require an excessive buyout so he can't leave after a couple of seasons without paying a substantial penalty, a source said.

You guys may not realize this, but there's actually a precedent for a team doing well with changing coaches every few years.
Did you skip over post #12 in this thread?
That is going to be a disaster. The minute he steps foot on campus, he'll be looking to move on to something bigger and better

You could've said the same for Herman.
Except Herman is actually a good coach and left them better off. Do you think they will be able to say the same for Kiffin?

I was thinking of another program having done the same thing in the past...

Big tv market, big fan base, great recruiting grounds. Better job than the three that did better this year.
Make sure he takes Mario with him!!!! Don't need him in Tuscaloosa anymore

I was just thinking that. If you're Luigi do you go there for a bump in salary and the Thomas Brown type title? He'll never be OC at Bama and his name isn't even mentioned for openings now (aside from by Bruce Feldman). That's assuming Monte's son would even want him though. You'd probably be better off trying to get a Texas guy for that role as you're now at a severe recruiting disadvantage with Herman down the street in Austin and you ain't convincing Florida kids to go to Houston.

Beanerdict Arnold is a scumbag traitor, but he's not stupid. He's a shrewd climber. No way in **** he goes from Alabama to Houston to be an assistant coach no matter what title he is given.
