Major Applewhite (not Kiffin) to Houston

Lane turned down Houston when they tried to force him into a contract with a HUGE buyout if he left within 2-3 years.

Premature thread is apparently premature.

It was Kiffin's job. He said no because Houston wanted his contract to have one of the highest buyout's in the nation. Lane knew he'd be gone in 2 years. Houston didn't want to lose another coach. There we are.

They wanted Kiffin to agree to a huge buyout, because they know he'd jump with the quickness. Obviously he wouldn't agree to it

Lol at Les Miles. At least Purdue and Houston have turned him down now. He probably is going to be unemployed next year even though he definitely wants to return to coaching.

It was just a matter of time MA got his shot. Great hire for Houston, in my opinion.

So lane declined the offer for a good job with a team that's already pretty loaded in relativity to their conference..but instead decides to go with the garbage job because he has never been able to commit to anything in his life? What a ******* moron

If he goes there, FAU probably told him you could leave after 1 year. I guess he's so confident he'll do well and get a p5 offer after 1 year that he'd rather make 800K for one year at FAU and then leave, than make 3 million at Houston but have to stay for 4-5 years.
