We kept our promise to him that we wouldn't recruit other RBs and he spurned us in the end

Why does everyone act like we don't have another RB in this class. I hope Burns proves y'all wrong and we never think about McFarland ever again. DeeJay could be our Ty Montgomery if need be.

Lol this ish reminds me of the clippers locking Deandre Jordan up so he literally couldn't sign with the Mavericks

Deejay is going to have to be the utility man in 2017. School him up at RB.

His size was listed at 5'10 and 205 pounds. That's big enough to be a RB and get some carries if we need him there in a pinch.

Deejay had the ball in his hands in almost all his highlights, considering he's already on campus and McFarland had a broken leg I'd be surprised if Deejay wasn't already way ahead being able to step in at RB if something were to happen to Walton/Homer.

Maybe McFarland's a unique talent but I find it hard to believe we won't be able to add someone just as good in the next cycle. I don't think he's 1 of our 10 most important croots this cycle so even though it's disappointing it's not worth getting upset over a kid making a retarded last minute decision to willingly flip to Maryland. I heard after the 4 coaches talked him out of committing to UM at Tuesday's epic dinner the waitress then talked him out of a dry aged ribeye and into 3 day old tuna salad. Trying to get a 2nd source to confirm.

Lingard's hand just got much stronger. I still wouldn't offer a scholie to his cousin unless we think he can contribute here because, quite simply, I am not going to let a recruit be my recruiting coordinator.

Don't blame any high school kid that takes $$ or a better opportunity for their family.

****, I'd have a bidding war if I was a top notch recruit.

Sucks he didn't pick Miami, but I don't blame him if he got paid.

Hes a running back. He better be worried to be surronded by savages or his career wont be long

Not necessarily, if you're a great RB, NFL will find you.

Y'all should go after Felix or AJ Davis. Not sure why the Big 3 aren't after both I think they're very talented.

It's funny you bring that up because Travon McMillian was a three-year starting quarterback at Hylton High School. He's the starting tailback at Virginia Tech.

Tracy Howard was all UF until the 11th hour because he realized he wanted to play for the hometown. Look it sucks to lose a kid like this when you expected him all along but Richt is a vet you got to have a backup plan just in case no matter how slim you think the chances are the kid flips. Dudes cry on here all the time about there is no loyalty to Miami from these SOFL kids. Does it make sense to us for him to go to Maryland over Miami? Heck no! and to most ppl it doesn't. But I cant blame the kid who wants to put on where he is from.

have to agree with this. just so happens we were really counting on hi, at a position of need but it is the nature of the game.

again imo this wasn't a position of need this year. oL WR DB were the spots we really needed help and the close on those spots are looking good

It wasn't a need position because we thought he was in. Now, looking ahead to 2017, we only have one back with actual playing experience ... and two of the three backups have injury histories (one of which is an incoming freshman). We need to hope Homer is the real deal and we avoid any injuries. With all the shots they take, RB is an injury prone position. It's a risky situation to be in.

RB is now front and center a need position for the 2018 class. It also delays us getting out of this hole we've dug of always having to recruit out of need. We're not going to realistically compete with the Bamas and OSUs etal. until we can get back to competing from depth.

RB is def a need spot for next years class but look at what the staff is projected to close with at our need positions this year. theyre apparently going to clean up at WR, DBs, and OL. this a great great class imo with or without McFarland.

Apologies in advance as I haven't been able to keep up with the entire thread. Was Thomas Brown ever able to make that final visit to McFarland? Or did the kid shut him out and tell him not to come? Just wondering how it went down...

youre gonna have to. his recruitment is gonna be shady as ****.

If the WR haul is Thomas, Harley and Njoku and the CB haul is Edwards, Bandy, Dean and Henderson Deejay is almost certainly going to be a RB.
