Not a fan but he makes a reasonable point.
Sorry my friend, but he does not make a reasonable point. WR is not a position that rotates players constantly. Might see a few different WR personnel depending on the packages or play call, but its nothing like the D-line when it comes to rotating players. WR position plays the best 3-4 receivers every play.

Go look at any team with good passing stats. Just a few WR's getting majority of the pass attempts. That's every single team, not just Miami. LSU 2019, Bama 2020, Georgia 2021, etc....Even Ole Miss and Syracuse, who are elite passing teams, only have 4 or less top receivers. None of their 2nd string get any burn. It's a clear drop off from the top 4 receivers.

Not knocking Joseph, but honestly he just does not look natural at receiver. I believe he played RB in HS, so this is probably a Brashard Smith situation where he goes to a G5 school to play RB.

Also, he had a chance to make a big catch over the middle against Florida. It went right threw his hands. If he was the player that Luther thinks he is he would have made that catch. Additionally, he must not trust his hands because he let's far to many punts drop. Just wait for it. You likely will see Restrepo catching punts going forward.

Maybe if the defense could be competent and not allow for every game to be a shootout, the young backups would have more opportunities.

We are doing exactly what we need to be doing with the WR rotation as much as I love Trader and Carr and others.

Also, if Ray Ray could return a punt longer than his current ballpark avg of 7 yards per return, maybe he would have an argument for more PT.

If he wasn't talking specifically about Ray Ray than maybe I could take it seriously. I do think their is validity to the development argument. By letting younger guys get some snaps they gain confidence. We go into next year with complete unknowns at WR outside of Horton.

The perception of the national media/fans is Luke is this HUGE Miami Hurricane fan and he isn't one. He has done more damage to our program then help it. For all the old school heads, u guys remember when Luke went public and threaten to put Miami in trouble if they didn't start Ryan Collins at QB? lol I was a huge Luke fan back in the days too, I was on his side during the death row beef.

I opened this thread to see what was the big deal. 5 pages on Uncle Luke posting his opinion on X??? I mean, it's the football thoughts of a washed up rapper. It's like getting upset about Nick Saban's take on the rap industry. Who cares?

He also coaches local HS football down here. That's where the problem is

He had an opportunity to make a play against one of the cupcakes we played this season and dropped a wide open pass. I’d love to be wrong but I feel like we overrated him because he’s a south Florida kid.
It's true but it doesn't make it exactly fair to zero in on one snap. Agreed you need to make the most of what you get. But for me you come back to a young receiver quickly. Bad route or drop again, yeah you're gonna have to work to get back. Maybe he isn't a star but can be a very good player or maybe he is. Who knows. Luke can and needs to shut the **** up on social. Different players react to few and first opportunities. I just think it's stupid to use his drop as to why he doesn't deserve burn. Im more inclined to believe he hasn't shown more in practice to believe he would be better than those 4 getting the game reps. And those 4 are pretty **** good

No one should be defending Luke.

Luke is a grown man who also happens to be a HC at a local high school. He is charged less with teaching kids xs and os and more about teaching them how to be men. Complaining on Twitter and saying that a coach is the worst WR coach in our program's history is silly, immature and an awful example of how grown men should comport themselves.

The ray ray (lack of) development has been a mystery to me. He got great reviews in fall camp, he's (supposed to be) explosive, by all accounts, is a very smart kid and a good kid. He looks slow on the field, which is odd because they called him "Flash" on SFE. Maybe he's not as good as we thought? I can see him as a portal candidate especially if we bring in a big time slot kid.
Still only a RS frosh
