I'm not sure people realize how hard it probably is to pick Miami when bama comes knocking. Even hometown kids have to feel good when saban sits in their living room and says "we're the best and we want you". It doesn't make sense to us for a guy to go to a situation where he's behind a bunch of other 5* kids, but even adults are flattered by that kind of attention. Kids say it's business, but it's not. It's psychology.

It$ a bu$ine$$ too, believe that.

Wins and championships are huge, no doubt, but they don't make ALL 4-5 star kids leave their family and comfort zone hundreds / thousands of miles away to go to a school they have never even been to in many instances.

Kids like Jeudy would be home in Miami all things being equal.......unfortunately equal is a pipe dream.

Agreed. Unless Richt and the staff have some tricks up their sleeves, whomever we've been in contact with the most will most likely end up here. With what Pete has given us, we should close with Slaton, Herbert, Harley, Edwards, McKitty, McFarland, and DE. Top 15 finish.

Top 5 every annually is unrealistic at this point in time. Richt inherited a weak Golden-ized team and has/had to repair a lot of partnerships locally and nationally. The school doesn't have the alumni, money, or recent success like say a Michigan, Bama, Clemson, or FSU to just sell itself. The coaches have to work twice as hard compared to their peers. Not to mention that we haven't won the conference, our division for that matter, or 9+ games in over 12 years.

Its not something that will just happen. Its going to take time and winning to erase the negative image that we've had out of recruits' minds.

Don't doubt that money talks, but we all know that. I think that (as canes fans) we forget that some kids start off open to anything and offering a kid a chance to be on the best team is a powerful thing. What do you think kids thought when coaches rolled in with championship rings during the 80s? Part of why kids wanted to play for Miami was we were the best.

everyone on this board acts like they are fans but there words say different. really I have faith in this coaching staff to get top notch players. richt did it at Georgia, kool has a history of top notch dline guys at Missouri, I think people on this board have to have more faith in richt and his staff and there recruiting.

this isn't al golden and his al golden specials, richt will land players he beat bama for Richards when everyone said Richards was going to bama and we were dulusional to think otherwise, he also won a couple other battles late without a yr to prepare, I trust him to get players to help at wr, u should too. reason people think jeudy could come is that his personal loss could end up keeping him close to home as for smith he commited to richt at Georgia and if he goes to bama he will have to beat out jeudy if jeudy still goes there , and sit behind ridley. Miami has oen guy Richards u can count on as starting. cager has a shot but really the rest is wide open playing time matters and lets face it lsu can't throw the ball, go there sure but u get 10 catches a year cause there qb sucks balls.

This staff's "quiet confidence" don't mean jack ****...

Bama has had the lead with Smith for months, only recently has LSU gained traction... Miami been in 3rd for a long time.

And before vern even attempts to troll me, check the threads, I been saying Smith to Bama for months...

Look, I hope we get Smith, so I'm not saying it in a negative way... But from everything I've read, Bama has had the lead with Smith for a long time.

Just recently Smith & Moses both visited LSU together, from an LSU writer the thing that he pointed out in his article was that Smith & Moses were both being recruited by Eddy O as Bama recruits... That let me know all I needed to know.

It would be great to land the kid, but it's just unrealistic thus far... He's only visited once for the UNC game & idk if Duggans has had his in-home with him yet, but compared to how often he visits Bama, doesn't look good for us.

You are aware he lives pretty close to bama right opposed to pretty **** far from us. My most obvious critique to what you said though relates to your lack of confidence for wr & CB for this staff... why exactly is that considering this staff hasn't been able to prove anything one way or another. Good or bad until signing day gets here... you're gonna sit back & critique the staff because you haven't heard enough publicly about our efforts? Pete's already told yall some of the people were on were staying quiet about until it's time.
