Loving the Mario Press Conference but how long before Jake hits the portal?

He is already saying they will build around Tyler. Not the message of open competition I had hoped for.

He has a great history of keeping Oregon kids out of the portal but Jake will have a lot of options...

Was he supposed to say "we will build around a guy who was out all season with an injury"?

I mean, I hear what you are saying, but there's no way ON DAY ONE that you say the defending ACC freshman of the year is in an open competition to keep his spot. You might end up opening things up, and you might give everyone a clean slate, but TVD is our most significant ray of light from the 2021 team.

You missed the whole message then. It’s about competing. TVD earned the job and now it’s Jakes time to get better and push himself to be next guy up. He will have 2 years to start of TVD continues his pace.

I don't disagree with you. The thing is, how many players did he mention by name? Pretty sure it was just Tyler. He didnt need to mention him. He kind of went out of his way to bring him up. Again, I agree Tyler earned the hype and the job, its just a question of the visual and will it influence Jake to get in his feelings. I hope not.

Not you! Not now!

Jake is now playing for a machine and his time will come. Jake is going to win big at UM.

He's gonna build up qb talent like the old days, when you earned your spot on the depth chart, and you play when it's your turn. The seniority has to go, the best man for the job will play.

Tyler Van Dyke will be a Heisman finalist in 2022 and a good shot he goes pro.

Garcia would be the starting quarterback of a Mario-led Miami program by 2023 and will have a few years to run the show. He's also on TVD injury away from being the starter.

Real talk, where is he going? Zero experience and would be buried on some other depth chart. Dude isn't rolling in with Spencer Rattler's resume and taking a starting job at a P5 school immediately.

If TVD actually improves in this offense and continues to play like this, he is gone after next season.

Which makes having Garcia ready to go even more important. His time will come.
