Loving the Mario Press Conference but how long before Jake hits the portal?

It's Garcia's job in 2023. He can heal from his injury, continue to learn, and then take over. He has no reason to leave.

This makes total sense and if Jake has his head on sraight thats how it goes.

But kids these days seem to lack patience and that is the only concern I have there. I think Jake has every bit as bright a future as Tyler.

It's speculation, sure, but this is what we do primarily on this board.

If anyone watched that Netflix show and caught a glimpse into dad, I think it's a legitimate question. For Jake, he ought to stay because I have to imagine there aren't a lot of high profile programs where he'll be guaranteed a spot next year either; but, assuming he thinks that TVD might stay 2 years, I suspect he has given it some thought.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jake hit the portal because that's just the nature of the beast these days but TVD is likely gone after next season unless he regresses so it would be short sighted of Jake to bolt based on coach speak at a press conference. Does anyone know if Garcia redshirted this year?

He did mention competition. Said that he wants to recruit players that want to embrace competition. If Jake isn't that kind of player then he's gotta go, especially with Jacarri coming in.

Personally I think Jake wants to compete. He doesn't strike me as a cupcake. This is a good situation for him, and it just got better (assuming we can continue succeeding offensively and bring in the right staff to do that).

This is the same guy that claimed that he and his wife were "separated" and then admitted it wasn't exactly true simply so that Jake could classify to play in HS. I hope he means it, but let's be realistic. What this guy says means little.

Mario played at a time when every week was a battle for starting jobs. You faltered it was next man up. Not at that point at all positions but I see it coming with him as coach. If Garcia is what we think he will push TVD and make him better. Makes all starters better when they have competition

This is the P5 Jake needs to take a long hard look and realize that anywhere he goes he’s got to compete with someone.

His best bet is learning from the OC we’ll be bringing in.

Become the best version of himself and get ready to lead the team to back to back ACC titles.

Agree with everything here

In the past this is not an issue at all. Jake is the QB in waiting and as much as I love TVD let’s be honest a lot can happen

But times are certainly different now

We have the best qb in the ACC and a top 3 in all of college football for next season, and you’re expecting the brand new head coach to not talk him up during his introductory press conference. If Mario hadn’t said those things about TVD, there would probably be a thread on here criticizing him for not talking more about TVD. This place sometimes…
