Loving the Mario Press Conference but how long before Jake hits the portal?

Even Garcia sees what is going on on the field. TVD did things even Trevor Lawrence didn't do. Did Clemson have an open competition once TL took over? **** no. You bust your butt for that #2 spot knowing full well the starter can get hurt at any time. Also, Garcia is not in the same class, and if TVD goes pro after next season, he can start for 2-3 himself. Why would he leave??? Pure idiocy all the way around if he does. Stay and learn under TVD, under whomever Mario brings in, which should be someone VERY qualified if reports are true about the assistant coaching staff budget, then get your shot in a what will be a well oiled machine at that point. Garcia has it made in the shade, as my father would say.

He also mentioned competition.

If Jake and TVD want to be the best they can be, they should both welcome competition.

And most of the major programs will have competition at the QB spot anyway.

Just what happened to Jake with the foot issue could happen to anyone. I am sure that Jake realizes that. And he can be the next man up. We finally have a pathway to having consistent QB play and this is a question that is out there? Jake has been quiet all along too. I don’t get the impression that he is bolting. Perhaps I’m wrong though. But the talk about competition and working our tales off is a good narrative.

Jake will have his chance after TVD. Anything can happen with injuries, but it would be incredibly shortsighted on his part to leave when he's the clear # 2 with a clear path to start in 2023.
 
And if we had the next Dalvin on the roster I'm sure he would (rightfully) say we will build around him. This aint the Mandy special Miami it's steel sharpening steel nothing but competition now

Many people thought Jake looked as good or better in the spring. I don't claim to know Jake's mindset and I would love to have him be the understudy and roll right in when Tyler leaves but this generation is not known for their patience when it comes to the portal.

Im not saying they shouldn't build an offense around Tyler, he has been great, I'm just not sure that was the best messaging.

I realize this wont be a popular thread but Oh well.

For the record I could not be happier with the Mario hire.

Who cares if it was best messaging, it was honesty. No more political b.s. and lies to the players. It's a new day

What else is he to say? TVD was the ROY. Not sure there should be an open competition. Sucks for Jake with injury, but TVD deserves to be the starter. He should not be looking over his shoulder.
