Love to know the real story

LULZ at Al's Army coming out in force after he slimed his way back into town like a fat oozing snail.

Here are the facts:
1. He disappeared for about 3 days on the eve of UM's EEs enrolling and in the 11th hour of the normal recruiting cycle;
2. He interviewed with Ped State;
3. He didn't have to interview with Ped State;
4. He didn't deny wanting the Ped State job until after it was apparent Ped State was interviewing other candidates today.
5. Recruits, commits and players were publicly expressing fear and doubt about him leaving;
6. He did nothing to alleviate any of those doubts until 3 days later;
7. Valentine de-committed during his dalliance with Ped State.

Why would an employed HC interview with another program and go dark for 3 days and risk losing recruits, risk alienating his current players, and lose a lot of support from UM fans if he didn't want the job that he was interviewing for? Why put yourself through all that if you didn't want the job? Wouldn't be easier for the HC and cause a lot less of the headaches I listed to just refuse the interview if you didn't want the job?

That fat flop sweater wanted that job. And none of you boot lickers will ever convince me otherwise. Use your heads for something other than a receptacle for Al's putz.

The biggest thing no matter how the slurpers try to spin it, even Donna herself didnt have a clue and said as much to media what Golden was doing at one point yesterday. That tells you all you need to know right there .

LOL WUT? What does that "tell you"? Doesnt tell me jack other than he was probably considering the job. I think its just as likely that they made him an offer, and he said he would take 48 hours to mull it over with his family. Its obviously possible he was never offered the job, or that he was told they would not be making a decision soon and that they were going to be interviewing other people and he bowed out, but NO ONE here can say what happened.

I have a hard time believing PSU flew down here with their big wigs for just an interview and without any intention of offering him the gig.

Its the guy's alma mater, and its what obviously was the guy's dream job for most of his career. If it was offered to him, there is no way he would have turned it down without giving it serious thought, which I think may well have been what he was doing. And if that's the case, I cant hate on the guy. He got the offer he wanted all his life, and after thinking it through, turned it down to stay with us.

Sure its possible he was never offered it, but we will never know what really happened, and all this "tells you all you need to know" stuff is B.S. Right now, everyone is spinning this in whatever way they want, based on their own personal views on Golden. The fact is no one knows jack of how it went down.

Al's troops have rolled onto the scene like the Necromongers trying to convert the unbelievers into their sucker way of thinking. This program has become a feeding ground for the soft shoulder nut hugger.

It's really creepy how some of these nut huggers go so hard to suck up to such a loser HC especially after he just took a 3 day long crud down UM's throat while courting another gig. These dudes are intoxicated on Al. Creepy ****.

Real story is he would go through two more years of sanctions. If PSU was clean he'd of went, but truly he looked at his roster, recruiting class and schedule, and knew he'd be dumb to leave.

So you think that he flew to Penn St., and, in doing so, risked upsetting the athletic department, alienating our fanbase, destroying his credibility with recruits in this class and any future ones regarding his loyalty to UM, all in order to interview for a job that he wasn't sure he wanted?

Yea, you're right, we're all guessing here because none of us are Mrs. Golden. But there is such a think as reasonable conjecture, which is what we're engaging in, versus unreasonable conjecture, which is what Golden's loyal band of troops are doing. It simply doesn't make sense that he got an offer.

The idiotic thoughts and replies in this thread are hilarious. Golden was in a lose/lose situation with some fans no matter what he decided. Nothing wrong with listening to offers especially if it comes knocking from that job you always dreamed of. I wish some of our fans would take off the orange and green glasses and get in touch with reality.

When you get in that coach worship game you lose all ability to think rationally. It's Heel Digging 101. Scary mentality really because these guys are either really dumb or just too stubborn to make rational deductions based on the available facts because it doesn't support their worship m.o. Somehow, they're trying to convince themselves that a HC would risk all those negative things we've listed to go interview for a job he didn't even want.

Two possibilities:
1) he was offered the position but acquiesced to his wife's preference to stay in South Florida
2) Munchak was PSU's first choice so he put out this statement as a pre-emptive strike to save face

#2 Ding Ding Ding.....we have a winner. You don't turn down a hefty raise and an extension unless (a) you are a complete idiot (b) you have another job.

@jwyattsports: Just talked to former #Titans coach Mike Munchak just a bit ago. He did not interview at Penn State today. Cleaned out his office at STSP

@coachingsearch: Do not expect Penn State to hire a new coach until late in the week.

Seems like Golden backed out to me, but who knows?

The true story from reports is that the committee came to South Florida. They were very close to a deal. He and James agreed that he needed to have a decision by Sunday afternoon/evening. The committee would not move as fast as Golden wanted, they may have thought he wss bluffing. The release was done because it had to be done with tomorrows events and some booster mailing. Kicker is that he's still possibly their top guy, and this isn't over.

You are clearly on the opposite side of the Aisle from the people you are bashing, so no objectivity. If your College you played ball at wants to discuss the HC job, of course you listen. Everything else on this page and other is pure speculation. Your negative attitude never wins anything. Bow up and support the U. I was never a Shannon fan and had to publicly support.

Agree with 3FW. I think there is still a good chance he ends up the coach at PSU. Just guessing, but I don't think they offered.....YET. When and if they do, things may change. I've seen speculation and agree with the idea that Golden placed a deadline of today on PSU to offer; however, they wanted to do their due diligence and interview other candidates.

Knowing he couldn't be AWOL for his previously scheduled press conference tomorrow, he released a statement today reaffirming his commitment to UM and tomorrow can say that he's the UM coach and intends to remain as such.

Of course, the word intends doesn't mean ***t, and provides him the out should he be offered the job later in the week.

@mortreport: Just to be sure - as scheduled, Mike Munchak absolutely interviewed with Penn State today in Nashville.

Have to wonder if Miami upped his salary, budget for assistants, etc etc, in effort to appease him.

My guess is he would prefer to go to PSU, its a better overall job in the long term for him.....But his family isn't ready to move yet, and he's wary of walking into another two years of bowl bans and having to recruit with that. When you add in Miami offering some more budget, it makes sense he'd stay.

Of course this would demonstrate that our admin is more interested in a squeaky clean image, good grades, and a figurehead, than actually winning football games.

If and when golden turns around the d I can't wait until this thread gets bumped. All of you nasty name callers should be banned at that point.

I don't quite understand why MM would deny that info unless he just didn't feel like discussing State Penn.

I don't see the big deal in Al wanting the job. Everyone knew that The job would be enticing. He didn't get it.,
He could spin it and say that's the only job he would listen too. It won't be a big deal with recruiting because he can say there is no other job he would take. I'm not an al slurper and would have been happy if he left but the overreaction by cane fans and *** clowns like Franchise shows how dumb they are.

it could be a matter of semantics. munchak might have spoken with the committee via telephone (phone interview) which munchak characterized as a phone conversation and not an interview while PSU characterized it as an interview.

I don't know what happened. But you've officially turned into the biggest ****** on this site. You will come out with the most far fetched excuses and scenerios to justify your position. I don't care if its his alma mater, for a man that preaches integrity and loyalty you can't tell me interviewing for the job and going silent for 3 days is not a disloyal move. He was job hunting, disappeared and his own boss had no idea what was going on. He wanted that job and he wanted out of Miami. Whether he was offered or not doesn't matter. What matters is that he wanted another job. Spin it however you want, but those are the facts.
