Love to know the real story

My gut feeling tells me two issues were in play.
1. Mrs. Golden loves south Florida Miami Area.
2. Golden and Dorito were a package deal and PSU said we want you not your side kick.

I think this too. Golden f***ed his buddies career when he convinced him not to take the temple job. Now Coach D has a bad rep across the nation and the only way for Golden to fix it is to stay here and win with Coach D. Only then can they part ways.

Too much smoke here. Sounds like Al may have said he needed time to sleep on it (very Golden) and sometime today backed out. If they don't hire Munchak, Franklin, or Johnson you know PSU got rejected. True story will likely come out.

He was never offered the job. End of story.

It's idiotic to say something that conclusive. In fact, if you read what the only two rational posters here they are connected to PSU have said, he absolutely was offered the job.

It would be very surprising for a team to not only engage first with a guy who isn't their #1 target, but to fly a plane full if big shots down to Miami when his agent is in PA? I think he was offered.

If anything, the past few days have shown us that "sources" and "inside info" are complete bull****.

Having written that, a good friend who is a big PSU booster told me on Friday that Golden was offered the job but never accepted.

We must now forget it ever took place, everyone was making stuff up, there was no "job" no " plane" golden was just chilling at the house watching the playoffs and a us army aa game. Got a call from Blake asking what was going on then Al replied " no man #istandwiththeu" . So everyone stop pretending there was a "deal". It was a figment of our imagination.

From what I was told...

PSU wanted to hire Golden but they told him that they didn't want D'Onofrio as the DC. Golden wouldn't have it. It was a done deal if it wasn't for that.

Which means we're definitely stuck with a fat sack of **** flavored doritos as our DC.

LULZ at Al's Army coming out in force after he slimed his way back into town like a fat oozing snail.

Here are the facts:
1. He disappeared for about 3 days on the eve of UM's EEs enrolling and in the 11th hour of the normal recruiting cycle;
2. He interviewed with Ped State;
3. He didn't have to interview with Ped State;
4. He didn't deny wanting the Ped State job until after it was apparent Ped State was interviewing other candidates today.
5. Recruits, commits and players were publicly expressing fear and doubt about him leaving;
6. He did nothing to alleviate any of those doubts until 3 days later;
7. Valentine de-committed during his dalliance with Ped State.

Why would an employed HC interview with another program and go dark for 3 days and risk losing recruits, risk alienating his current players, and lose a lot of support from UM fans if he didn't want the job that he was interviewing for? Why put yourself through all that if you didn't want the job? Wouldn't be easier for the HC and cause a lot less of the headaches I listed to just refuse the interview if you didn't want the job?

That fat flop sweater wanted that job. And none of you boot lickers will ever convince me otherwise. Use your heads for something other than a receptacle for Al's putz.

LULZ at the Don Bombley, Jr. schtick. Just because some dude has "PSU" in his screen name Bomb Bombley, Jr. annoints the dude a Ped State insider with intimate knowledge of what actually happened. He and some other dude who supports Bombley's narrative are the only rational guys on here. Classic.

Agree 100%.

And everybody inside of the program knows it.

Now he's gotta go back to Miami and face those kids. SMH

Good luck getting them to buy-in now.

I just don't buy this. You don't offer a position as HC and tell the guy who will and wont be on his staff. If you have to do that, he isn't the right guy to begin with.

I'll say this much for Golden, he's a true ride or die n**ga

I hear ya.

There is no ******* chance in a million years that Golden allowed the world to speculate he was interested in the PSU job without dispelling such speculation; that he flew to PSU to interview for a job the weekend before early enrollees start at UM, knowing that the media and 2014 recruits would be alerted as to this interview; that he received an offer; and that, then, over a cup of port, he and his wife decided that they'd rather stay in UM because they like the weather down here.

There are two possibilities:

1) He interviewed with them and they either outright told him he would not be receiving an offer or, and this is my theory, Golden set a deadline for PSU's offer for today in the afternoon, in advance of his media session tomorrow in Miami, and they told him that they could not make him an offer before interviewing Munchak, etc.

2) He received an offer, but, as Wildcat says above, it was contingent upon his not bringing alone his boyfriend. aka, the worst defensive coordinator in the history of football.

IMO, the former is by far the most likely of the two. It's unlikely that PSU made him a contingent offer with respect to firing D'Onofrio. In the end, Golden needed a quick answer from PSU, but, because of our team's performance in the second half of this season, including the Rape of Orlando, he was not a surefire choice and they wanted to perform further due diligence on him and, most important, on other candidates.

The bottom line, we're ****ed until he leaves. He is one of the worst gameday coaches I've ever seen, even worse than Shannon. What UL did to us, after a month of preparation, was both completely inexplicable and illuminating. UL had tougher games against UConn and all of the other clown schools in its conference. Same story with VT, Duke, etc. Golden is a strong recruiter because he's organized, hard-working, and persistent. But, in the end, who cares if he can't take that talent and channel it into actual on-field results? This was a very bad day for UM football. Very bad.

The biggest thing no matter how the slurpers try to spin it, even Donna herself didnt have a clue and said as much to media what Golden was doing at one point yesterday. That tells you all you need to know right there .

You might be right, but everything you just typed is your own speculation. What if he didn't plan to leave, the PSU folks told him they needed him, that he's their first choice, that he should just hear them out, that they just wanted to fly down and talk to him and make their presentation? He respectfully listened his alma mater, considered the proposal in good faith, and rejected it? Just as speculative, and nobody will ever know.

People are just mad that he crushed their dreams of a Botch II era, or an Olive Garden era that would have never realistically occurred.

By the way, anyone who follows college football coaching hires knows that an official offer is NEVER made by the school unless they are certain that the candidate will accept. So the lack of an offer doesn't tell you anything.

Al's troops have rolled onto the scene like the Necromongers trying to convert the unbelievers into their sucker way of thinking. This program has become a feeding ground for the soft shoulder nut hugger.

These dudes on here claiming he didn't want the job are either really stupid, really naive, or just creepily obsessed with Al. By the looks of the bowl game, it appears like he was already having trouble getting guys to buy in. That job just got monumentally tougher now that everyone on the team knows the only reason he's here is because Ped State rejected him.

I said this yesterday, but UM is now in the position of the husband whose wife openly tried to hook up with another dude right in front of him, and the only reason she didn't go with the other dude is because he said, "Nah, I'm good." Then, she tells her husband, "Ok. Let's go home now."

At the very least, Flop Sweats was interested in leaving his team high and dry. Otherwise, he wouldn't have courted Ped State and went through the whole process. Real tough to get your guys to rally around you when they're thinking the only reason you're here with them is because you got rejected.

These dudes try to equate their gigs as night desk clerks at the Motel 8 with that of a HC of a marquee program, and they think the rules that apply to them (i.e., if Holiday Inn comes calling **** right I'm talking to them) apply to a marquee program HC. Different rules when you want to call yourself a leader of men on this big of a stage.
