Louis Riddick thinks Lance Guidry was out schemed by Georgia Tech

LOL even assuming there is an actual distinction here - great we got out schemed and that is in no way an indictment on our DC

Scheme must be the fault of the players

Getting out-schemed doesn't mean you're horrible and need to be fired.

It means you got got. It happens.

For example, in 2018, Sean McVay got out-schemed by Vic Fangio on the way to the Super Bowl. He shut down their high-scoring offense. Belichick copied the plan in the Super Bowl and held them to 3 points.

Is McVay an idiot, or did he get got?

Meanwhile, Fangio got run out of Miami, and now has the Eagles playing better.

For the eleventy billionth time, my position is that we need MORE TALENT.

Even if we fire Guidry tomorrow, rolling out Meesh Powell and Jaden Harris is not a contender-level duo.

That is a talent issue. That is on Mario for an underwhelming '23 class. We should have more second-year players ready to contribute.

I have zero attachment to Guidry. I've just become more of a "Jimmys & Joes" guy after seeing so many "big brains" look average to flat-out bad.

Tom Herman
Justin Fuente
Gus Malzahn
Garret Riley

And on and on and on.

Does anybody really think Al Golden is a top 5 defensive mind?

He played tight end college, had average at best defenses under Al Groh, then had historically awful defenses here as the HC.

Manny Diaz gives up 62 points to Mack Brown, then rehabilitates his career with solid defenses at Penn State.

I don't know who the genius coaches are. I'll leave that to everybody else.

Just keep stacking talent.

Because some guy on the internet says so?

He also said if Kiko fits the run, the play gets stuffed.

But let's say that guy is right.

WHY are they not aligned? Has Guidry never seen motion and shifts in all his years of coaching?

How did he got from Broyles nominee to "he can't even get guys lined up"?

Many Miami “fans” don’t look at other situations being hyper focused on the issues within the team with blinders on. Every situation is different with a multitude of variables. Even game to game.

Remember when Matt Canada was the "big brain" OC?

How's Hugh Freeze doing at Auburn?

Meanwhile, Sark After Dark has Texas rolling.

Blake Baker went from village idiot to good defenses at Missouri to getting the LSU DC job.

I have no clue who the good coaches are.

Recruit, recruit, recruit.

This can't be right. I'd given the Broyles committee more credit if they said Dawson (unless I missed something). This is hilariously Gattiseque. Guess all the Guidry bashing/hate is unfounded. SMDH

No, that was the Broyles shortlist from last year when Guidry was the savior and everyone was saying give him a blank check.

THIS year, he's the village idiot.

Whether or not Guidry is retained next year, I'm more concerned that we close on this '25 class and land at least one of Ben Hanks and DJ Pickett.

lol we are misaligned at snap. that isnt a talent issue. that is a coaching issue.

GaTech was the worst game of the season by a large margin, anyone that’s played or coached football could see Miami defense was at a disadvantage simply by alignment

PLUSSSSS many times our DEs were crashing inside on top of being out leveraged

I legitimately would love to hear Guidry explain the strategy behind his game plan

I'm just over it.

We. Do. This. Every. Time.

People were literally saying we should pay Guidry a blank check.

But now after 30 years of coaching, he doesn't know how to get a defense lined up.

Look, it's possible Guidry has no plan against motion after 30 years of coaching. Or maybe there are other things going on, such as inexperienced/bad safeties.

You saw how terrible we were at passing off guys in zone. Maybe that's why we have been playing so much man.

"He needs to teach it better!"

Maybe.

Or maybe Jaden Harris just isn't good.

I want to reiterate that I don't care one way or the other if Guidry gets fired.

I just think we have to get out of this cycle of coaches being saviors or village idiots.

I mean, Al freaking Golden is currently coordinating a top 5 defense.

There are truly elite coaches and truly bad coaches. But most are somewhere in the middle.

I think Guidry is somewhere in the middle.

Even if we hire some wizard, the talent level has to improve if we want to compete at high levels.

So the entire front 7 is continuously misaligned because of recruiting? We’re supposedly recruiting a different type of player, and built a great culture… but they’re all too dumb to grasp the coaching?

Something’s definitely off, and it’s probably a bit of everything.

We can make the “South Florida kids are raw and stupid argument” but almost the entire first string defense isn’t from SoFla.

This scheme is definitely confusing this team and the entire defensive staff is having a hard time teaching it and making it stick.

This level of visible dysfunction is deep rooted. Even my wife is asking wtf is going on when our defense is arguing and bumping into each other after a basic motion.

Posted coach hayes above there are atleast 10-15 plays where we beat off straight alignment.. NO TALENT can over come having a defense with no rules.. Everyone seems confused, cant pass off players, cant leverage, have no edges set, this is ridiculous. You need a 5 star to set the edge on a defense running man coverage almost exclusively?!

The Broyles award curse. .
This needs to be in their future contract.... your name gets mentioned in that group, you are gone...

This is a complete lie. You can’t name anyone on either of their defenses and most of there guys won’t be playing beyond college. Our guys would start there. Hèll gore couldn’t get on the field here and he was playing for gt
Bruh, it's sarcasm. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: ****!!!

Just watch the bad

I'll watch the whole thing later.

I'm sure it's horrible.

I just need someone to explain to me how Guidry went 30 years without ever seeing motion.

It's not like he's some dinosaur who hasn't seen all of the concepts of the past 10-15 years.

It makes zero sense, which is why I think "he's an idiot" is too simplistic.

He probably wasn't as good as we last year, and he's not as bad as we're seeing this year.

I've just seen this movie too many times.

Again, maybe he sucks and Mario will fire him. But even if he does, we should not be trotting out G5 transfers at every level of the defense.
