Louis Riddick thinks Lance Guidry was out schemed by Georgia Tech

Fwiw Miami d yards per game is down this year from last year and rank is better

What about it?

It's been good most of the year.

It was terrible against GT, especially once Barrow went out.

Mesidor is not a DT, and Cook/Clark are mainly JAGs.

We went through this with Manny and Blake Baker, both of whom rehabilitated their careers.

****, Al Golden is running a top 5 defense.

Keep stacking classes.

If Guidry gets fired, fine.

KEEP STACKING CLASSES.

He is correct mess isn't a dt if we got barrow and his team mate we would be better. No little we have sucked at portal talent acquisition. I'm not fretting because we could be Clemson FSU Florida imagine being a 2 and whatever Mississippi State team without a conference win and doesn't look like they will get on 😆😂

If a defense can't ******* lineup correctly, the coach sucks bags of ****s...it's 80+% coaching

mauigoa is good case study

Talent: Getting roasted when in man coverage. Only thing that fixes that is a faster LB

Coaching: Mauigoa has obvious limitations. He should not be asked to play man D.

Zone could help a lot, but we saw UM attempt a zone D against GT and the result was the CB passing coverage to a safety who was not there. That’s 10000% a coaching issue.

Over the years, I've become more of a "Jimmys & Joes" guy.

Obviously, X's & O's are important.

But people were sweating bullets over Guidry going to LSU. Now he can't tie his shoelaces?

Or maybe we lack talent.

"He can't get guys lined up!"

Maybe because they lack experience and/or recognition.

I'm tired of the "hot" coaching names all fizzling out. They go from saviors to idiots in the blink of an eye.

Remember when everybody wanted Garrett Riley?

Just. Keep. Stacking. Talent.
How much talent does it take to hold Georgia Tech under 300 yards rushing?

If someone is expecting average players to do extraordinary things, that’s unrealistic. If someone expects average players to at least do average things, it’s quite reasonable. If someone is okay with average players doing below average things, they’re a sucker.

But he's been a DC before.

He was the coordinator at Marshall when they upset Notre Dame.

I won't lose a minute of sleep if they fire Guidry, but this is mainly a talent issue, IMO.

By the way, Notre Dame has a top 5 defense.

Anybody want Godlenz back as DC?

I’m curios how often they faced misdirection offenses at Marshall.

My worry is he impressed Mario because his stuff is good vs teams that line up and run at you but maybe he is too reliant on players to erase mistakes against teams that motion around and create assignment conflicts right before the snap.

I would feel better if he had more proven p4 success, the combo of being g5 and deon bush saying DBs are playing poor technique and then giving multiple bad offenses their best games of the conference season is sus.

If more of the opponents were Louisville quality that would be one thing but we are getting burned by mid offenses that can’t even throw.

Guidry was never a “hot” coaching name.

I agree to the first part and Mauigoa is a great example but there is two sides of the coin to playing zone. Coaching is obviously involved but there is 100% an onus on the player to be able to pick up and execute the scheme.

Notice how there weren’t problems like this last year? Cause Kam was an NFL safety and while we can talk about what happened with James Williams, he was much better than what we have now.

Guidry got out coached last week for sure and has been out coached multiple times this season but that is further exasperated by our insufficient talent. We like to say that our classes are elite or what have you not, but if our players were anything close to that, they would not have looked so pitiful against an okay team that essentially ran 3 or so plays all game.

So then this is Mario’s fault. There’s zero reason for the defense to be this atrocious in year 3. We’re not getting lit up by top tier offenses. We’re getting bludgeoned and embarrassed by below average offenses, 3rd stringers, and QB’s with limp shoulders.

If this is really a talent issue, how is the talent arguably WORSE in year 3 than it was in year 1? That’s what the defensive production says, at least.
