This is true, but GT sucked too and had a QB who couldn't throw, yet they still did us up.

Let’s see how we do against cuse.

Here’s the difference:

GT had two QBs, one who could run & one who could throw.

Wake has a QB who can do neither. In fact, WRs were open all game, yet Wake’s QB refused to keep his eyes down field. Their OL actually did very well, but kudos to Guidry to realize dude was a liability & this time blitzing him like crazy worked b/c he didn’t have the legs like King, & he’s been inaccurate all ACC play.

Now, moving fwd w/ McCord, that **** can throw. He’s at 3500 yrds passing at a 2:1 int rate on 65% completion. I said privately about Week 5, Cuse is going to be an interesting game. There’s a theme going on in CFB right now; home teams are reveling in the role of being spoilers.

KU, UF, AU, OU, **** even Wyoming & Minnesota tried to give Boise and PSU a scare. We can’t come out like we did against WF against Cuse at their crib.

How many jet sweeps did wake run? How many misdirection type plays? How much motion? How much pre snap shifting?

It's nice that the defense stepped up and had a good game but wake didn't test us with the stuff that gives our defense serious problems.

I feel we are elite (which every D should be) when we know a pass is coming and we can get after the QB. Otherwise we struggle with teams that have multiple attacks and can mix it up with variety and motions.

In all fairness, we were blitzing heavily and getting quickly to him in the 2nd half, which we didn’t do at all in the 1st half. Our D sacked him 5 times in the 2nd half.

Don’t get your hopes up. It’s wild that these dudes have/had season long injuries and we were never told “they’re injured don’t expect them back during the regular season, or at least until late November”

If they were dressed or limited vs Wake they most likely aren’t playing against Syracuse

Or Wake is just that bad and is a one dimensional team with one good player. That said, happy to see the D perform decently for once. It didn't look great early, but once they started trusting themselves and executing, things seemed to be easier.

we need to play bend don't break. give up the short / intermediate and be opportunistic as mccord will make mistakes and idk if syracuse can sustain drives like we can

we'll give up a lot of yards but will limit their points and will win comfortably
