Lies being told

Nobody is saying they are on that level. Henderson and Judkins are the best duo in the nation and are proven.

You're saying CIS only feels good about Lyle and Fletcher (both top 10 backs nationally as recruits) because they're from South Florida. That's wrong, and the Ohio State example was silly because that same school wanted both of our guys badly.
CIS absolutely upgrades those 2 -- because they are from South Florida. Henderson and Judkins are examples started in this thread -- should we look across the landscape of college football for more examples. I am still waiting for those two steals to run like OSU RB1s run...

We should be looking to upgrade at all times, including RB1.

They are always looking. But this isn't fantasy football.

Assume we've spent to the tip-top of the budget (which we have). What position should we have gone cheaper? And who was a realistic RB1 that you wanted?

BTW- we had a better running game than Ohio State this year. Check any stat. Our conference and OL make running the ball easier. Even if that position takes a step back, chances are we will still be good.

Did we get bent over for Beck because we were late to address QB1?

You were screaming budget well before the family ties to Oregon for Hughes were the reason he was off the table.

Definitely needed to upgrade the secondary and QB due to multi-year recruiting failures, lack of development and coaching.

It was pretty much market value.

I agree we had to address QB and DB because of bad recruiting there.

Conversely, I think we’ve recruited well at RB (three straight Top 10 backs) and built a good run-blocking OL. Even if Lyle and Fletcher aren’t first round picks, they should be good. We do need depth there, though.

No RBs are Rd I picks anymore right?

He’s not. I mean, not for a team that wants to make noise nationally.

He doesn’t start at ND, OSU, Texas, or Penn State.
Agree with you as a pure runner.

But he’s playing a huge role for all of those teams as an all-purpose back. He can run well enough and he’s a beast in short yardage and pass protection.

Fletcher is a championship football player.

You and I have done this song and dance before and i think we’re on the same page. But a lot of people here will take what I said as some sign of disrespect or I don’t like the kid’s game. I do. He’s a big piece of the puzzle here. All I’m saying is he’s not RB1 on the elite teams. He’s a very nice 1B. Certainly has a role like you said. I’m not saying he’s riding the bench at those schools. But he’s not the first kid off the bus. But we can win with him and Lyle, I believe that 100%. I just wish we had 1 more depth piece. Someone like Ajay Allen 😑

Do you have any concept of an NIL budget?

Sure in a perfect world we get a different RB1. We also get two LB1, another OT1, two more WR1s, etc, etc, etc.
Lets say If we have $1M left to spend on roster upgrades this year, how are you investing it in spring? Keep in mind WR, DT, EDGE, are all very expensive positions. Singleton likely got close to or above $1M, Branch/Concepcion probably got >$700k, etc. DT is always extremely limited in quality in portal...

We must prioritize additions at positions that A) are more vital and B) have more unknowns.

We need someone better than allen
I assume injuries and it scares the he’ll out of me - Lyle and fletcher carrying the load w out a third back - preferably a big bruiser

Everyone is making good points. Perfect world we get a Martinez esq Elite “championship” ) 1a Fletcher 1B and Lyle 2 …. Similar to what we were seeing towards the end of the year

That’s a lot of gaps for an elite roster manager…

Thank you for your assist in proving my point.
