Let's Talk Malcolm Lewis

I hated to even look at him last season. That's how sad it was, compared to early his freshman year. He was not only NFL caliber but high pick caliber.

I'm worried not much will change if he loses the weight. Fat kids still display burst and moves in a limited area. Lewis was just filling out the requirement of 11th man on the field.

Hope I'm wrong.

Getting over it mentally is what will make or break him. He has great potential but has to trust his body. That is hard to do

What do you consider "high caliber pick?"

I wrote high pick caliber. I thought he was a fluid instinctive guy with a burst and plenty of athletic arrogance. Other than Duke Johnson -- and now Stacy Coley -- Lewis was the most impressive skill position newcomer to enter the program in a half dozen years or more. Certainly above Lamar Miller, who went in the 4th round. I thought Lewis had enough ability to be picked in the top 3 rounds if he merely maintained his early freshman level. Let's not deny how special he looked prior to the injury. There's a reason he was on the field from the outset of his freshman year.

Where do you people get this from?

Based on what? LOL

He caught 8 balls last season.

I don't get all this love for Lewis. His freshman year he was playing decent, but the supreme amounts of love he gets is kind of overblown IMO.

It's crazy. I've never seen a player do so little, at both levels, and get so much praise. It's one thing to say he's a good player but it's another thing to call him "the best prospect we've seen in years" and an "early pick".

I just wanna know what you guys are seeing. Someone show me cause I've seen the kid live and on film (game film) for years and I'm missing it.

My lasting image of Lewis is him catching a screen and running directly into the back of his linemen.

Not sure he will ever regain his burst and quickness after a very bad injury. Last year was to soon to tell so with this extra time he may regain what he lost. This season we will know a lot about the future of this team with Dorsett, Duke, Lewis, Waters and Yeaby all coming in after injurys. That's almost all our real playmakers with the exception of Cooley.

Not giving up on this kid.
He looked heavier last year than what he should be.
A year or 2 getting back in physical and mental shape will get him back to being the Malcom Lewis pre-injury.

Lewis obviously was still feeling the effects of his injury. He should've shirted all the way IMO. He didn't look the same at any point in the season. I think we wasted a year of his, but then again who's to say he would get that medshirt after his 4th year and would return.

no one can speak with certainty of an NFL future but the young man looked promising in his short time before the injury, he was making plays as a true freshman. its tough to make predictions on recovery not many guys ever have a freak injury like that occur

Should have red shirted last year. I never understood the package of him being the only WR on the field

What plays? LOL

Lewis seemed like a solid possession receiver before his injury. The kinda guy who doesnt get a lot of catches but when he does hes converting 3rd downs and ****.

Nothing more than that.

My question is if it takes atleast a year to get back to where you were...could duke be in the same boat this year?
