Let's take a good hard look at our 2009 and 2010 classes

Those are some pathetic numbers.

How many guys starting for us now would start on a current top 10 team? I'd say no more than 5.

i can't think of anyone on this team that would start on a top-5 team. Possibly perryman and maybe seantrell (who isn't even starting for us right now), but no one jumps out as a surefire starter to me on one of those top teams.

Duke would be contributing anywhere.

I'm not in the fire Golden camp but in all honesty we need to stop bringing up Shannon and using him as an excuse... Personally, I think Golden should get at least 5 years and 6 years the most, but he has to coach better... I don't understand why everyone is surprised... We played the same way last week, but KSU is much better than BC... If it wasn't for BC being so nonathletic and Duke helping out with some long tds then the game would have been the same way... I mean we even started the game 14-0 just as last week... KSU is more athletic and was able to exploit our weaknesses and our speed could no longer bailed us out... That being said, we can't continue to point out Shannon failures... We have to move on and work on resolving our issues now... We can't have it both ways... You can't say we miss having a certain group of players and then saying we have no talent...

Great post. You are 100 percent correct, people need to stop bringing up Shannon, he is long gone. This is year 2 under Golden, and Shannon is brought up almost any time there is a negative issue with Miami football. When do posters get over it and realize Shannon is never coming back? When will the current coaches be held accountable, instead of nagging on the past? It seems as if any EXCUSE is being used at the moment to not hold the current Miami staff accountable. If it's not the "Shannon entitlement" issue, it's the "shammin/Swasey strength" issue, or it's "shannons players", or something else blamed on past regimes. Once again, some posters sound like a wife who was cheated on in the past, decided to stay in the relationship, and continuosally brings the situation up like a nagging ****. It's been two years, and you still can't move on? Get over it.

You're right, we can't keep using Shannon as an excuse. However, some of these points aren't excuses, they're just reality. In my opinion, against a physical running team like KSt, DT may be the most important position on the field. Yet, not one of the DTs that traveled to KSt were signed by Shannon, NOT ONE! Porter and Robinson are the only one's still on the roster. This is a position that requires more physical development, along with OL, than any other position, but we've had to use players that should still be developing or only received offers because we needed bodies. So, yes, we need to stop making excuses, but we also need to accept the reality of the situation. This is not a good team right now and needs time to develop. I don't care what the record is this year as long as I see development. One game, is not going to change that. Let's see how these coaches and players bounce back. Is it a sign of things to come or a step in their development?

Larry and Tano doing work in this thread.

One of my all time favorite jokes: "Get off my back about Buxton!"

This thread is silly. Who recruits well when fans are flying banners over the stadium asking for your firing?

our current team is underachieving on defense. period. There are not 100+ teams out there with better talent than the u. period.

no excuse for bc and ksu lighting us up for those ridiculous numbers. none!

2010 was headed for disasterville...Bridgewater is a stud. Everyone else...meh.

Leggett (no offense, Ariz)...a nickel at Marshall...Marshall.
Rogers is a decent mid-level WR.
Albert Louis Jean was average.
Marcus Jackson is a JAG.
Menocal is a MAC player.
Jeremy Davis is a bum.

We also were looking at and expecting commits from Jabari Gorman (JAG), Brandon Fulse who is ok I guess...BJ Dubose was another.

Kaleb Johnson was a stud that got injured during the summer, and Randy straight up stopped recruiting him.

Randy's backup plans to Bridgewater were uber scrubs like Kevin Sousa, Stevie Weatherford, and Marcus McDade. Randy never offered Dallas Crawford and as a result never had a shot with Sammy Watkins. His #1 target at WR was in USC's backyard that USC was recruiting the **** out of (George Farmer and Marquise Lee). He stopped recruiting Kelvin Benjamin very early. Was going after Rashad Greene and Nick O'Leary hard...they were never really going to come here, sadly. He took an offer off the table for Elkino Watson (was a freshman starter at South Florida at DT). Didn't recruit Robenson Therezie.

2010 was gonna be real bad.

A lot of us on the premium board knew it was coming from a mile away.

Better upperclassman talent? It would be close.

Really? Memphis, Marshall, rice, New Mexico state, navy, Wyoming, Nevada, Ball St. Troy, buffalo and the list goes on and on. All those teams are ranked ahead of us in total d. Wtf! Young or not, underclassmen void or not. This is Bs from our defensive staff. To make it worse, we have not played offensive juggernauts. Bc and kstate. Cmon.

KST has a potential Heisman candidate at QB and an experienced team. I doubt all those teams you listed played against anything close to that.

114. Let that number marinate for a while. I suppose BC has upper echelon talent as well.

Back to 114. That number is unacceptable. Period. I understand that our talent is down, but no DC gets a pass when his D is ranked at 114 out of 119 or 120.

114. no sir. not at Miami. no no no.
