LB Gavin Nix commits to Miami... flips to Oregon 12/3

The silence here on CIS is deafening. Since I haven’t seen a Bank or any lofty statements from the Kool-Aid in Chief, and it’s less than 12 hours from ESD, and I’ve seen flips and Loy and Fong flips from UM to other programs, is it safe to assume that we are going to take a lot of L’s tomorrow and maybe finish with a class ranked in the composite around 15?

It seems we will be looking forward to the Portal. My question to you or anyone is do we have a reason to look forward to the portal? Pointedly, will we also be out spent in the portal?

I’m sure the defensive performance is hurting us, and I see you pointing at Guidry, which I don’t doubt, but I also believe that there’s a money component to this more than anything. Unfortunately, I haven’t had conversations with people in the money end lately so I can only piece things together.
its also hard to get info from miami now that DVD is gone lol. he was everyones main leaker.
they shut down Baez who was too.

Took an L here for sure.
I really liked the kid

Also it's kinda funny reading a lot post from folks that were literally calling this kid mid a few week ago now singing a different tune.
When the gator board loses a player, many of them say they didn’t want him. So, our board goes the opposite way and says we wanted him? Is it the same people calling him mid who now want him or is it a different set of people? The distinction is important because, for instance, if someone like @cway313 says a guy is slow, I don’t think two weeks later he says **** I wanted that guy.

I think as do some others, miami might have taken nix a bit for granted too. focusing so much on Wiley and Alford.
I dont think nix is some crazy stud but hes smart and high character.
thought it was sketchy all year how Nix was rarely on the gameday visitor list while being driving distance away. think he attended 1 game all year

That part would be good but I had a few questions I was hoping - respectfully- that you could answer - as to:

1. is it safe to assume that we are going to take a lot of L’s tomorrow and maybe finish with a class ranked in the composite around 15?

2. Will we also be out spent in the portal by the same people or others outspending us now?

Thanks

Lol man fvck if he decommitted with "class".... he waited until NOW to do it. Our defense has been *** ALL SEASON. Y'all get more soft every season. I can't ever see myself rooting for a jit that backed out on us unless he went to go play for his home team. That's respectable but all this other shvt is SOFT.

So we are losing Merritt. Nix. And Stubbs … needs definitely … however I haven’t heard of others … am I wrong ?

Mario needs to have his nose shoved into the steaming pile of **** that Guidry has left all over Greentree.

Making bad hires impacts everything
See below:
It’s been waaaaaaayyyy too long since we’ve had coordinators that legitimately gave Miami a tactical advantage over its opponents

Lashlee and Manny Under Richt are the two closest things

I think Guidry will give us an advantage

Guidry gonna earn his entire salary for this one game the way he’s gonna masterfully attack Texas AM

At least 1 pick from our secondary

I can’t remember the last time that our coordinators consistently gave our team a competitive advantage. Guidry for sure has

TVD and offensive game plan + Mario 2 to 3 brain farts per game give me little confidence for the rest of the season

Guidry and the defense are the only thing I can get emotionally invested in

Mario getting stuffed rn.

Hopefully this means we actually get a good amount of elite transfers. We only got 2 last year.
The money isn’t going to evaporate. If we miss on high school guys we will put it towards elite transfers. I’m not trying to make excuses (not my job to recruit) but the offers out there are nonsensical. The view I’ve had and I maintain is you need to allocate $1-$2m think (what Scar did with their De and OSU did with JJ) a cycle to 1-2 can’t miss prospects. You also need to water those flowers throughout the year. And build around that nucleus with good evals. If you have 15 true players per class 2-5 difference makers and portal in (3-4) quality guys you can be in the playoff yearly with luck around health. Miami desperately needs institutional organization and a real GM. I think it’s coming but I’ve been let down before

Miami has an enrollment of around 10-15K compared to most these state schools carrying an enrollment between 25-35K. It's a simple numbers game with more donors. alumni, and boosters. I still don't buy were going to be able to keep up in this NIL era. Unfortunately, the game has turned into a Wild Wild West semi-pro **** show. I'm truly hoping we're not just wanting to overspend for unproven HS recruits and saving it for proven guys in the portal. We definitely don't want to go the FSU route where we rely on the portal completely, but there's a balance were you're making good decisions for your roster as a whole during the talent acquisition window. (Recruiting and Portal)

I'll reserve judgement until after the first Portal window closes.

State universities. That being said Miami is the financial capital of South America.

When you say you think it’s coming do you mean Dennis will be replaced or Mario will hire someone over him? You’re not the first person on this site that says we need to run a more professional organization. Kind of scary to be honest.

That may be, but not everyone in Miami has a rooting interest in Miami Hurricane Football. We'll see if we truly have something in our pockets come portal time. That will tell us if the narrative of not wanting to overspend for HS recruits was bull**** or not.
