LB Aundre Kearney De-Commits

**** man every recruit I actually like decommits and plays else where

Lawson

Nkosi

Now this kid.

Lawson would have reshirted last year here and be a backup for at least this year... he played 4 games for VT and can start this year.
Nkosi May not want to wait behind Kaya and Jack next year.
Kearney like UKnowWhat mentioned may not like the 3 guys in front of him and all the guys we are offering.

The good news is that we have studs at all these position currently and committed.
Good point we had a CB from Shaq's team that wanted and would RS at AU...went to Kentucy and was SEC Defensive Player of the week for one game...He developed a lot more by starting at Ken than RS at AU...he developed.. his confidence is up...he is now position himself for 3 and out

Geo ...was this the 1/10 2017 commits you said hadn't talked to richt yet?

Maybe Richt wants him to visit in person, get to know the staff before "committing."

Believe someone mentioned Richt won't accept a commit before the recruit visits campus.

Actually that isn't 100% true as evidenced by Isaiah McKenzie who committed to CMR at UGA without ever stepping foot on campus.

My guess.. 1. He wants to play RB 2. He is doing his Homework and knows that there are 3 studs in class before him and they may have to wait to get on the field..so he will to wait that much longer...UF needs LBs right now...These kids want to play.. And they will go where they can play early...He knows Shaq and Mike played against Shaq in a camp setting... He know what they are capable of...We did the same thing UF AU UGA UM MICH were Shaq's choices cause they had the biggest need...Bama has 5* backing up 5*...OSU has a stud fresh. 5*..its a business for the school and the kids alike

Frank Gore committed here when Willis Mcgahee was 3rd string behind Portis and James Jackson... But, as Butch said, one of the main characteristics he looked for is a player not caring about who was infront of him.

Butch didn't recruit Gore

Smells of being dropped

Ehhhh not so fast.

I spoke to him and he was coming down for junior day. He told me he's already talked to Richt and Diaz.... Very odd because Kearney really likes Miami.

He was pushed out he wasnt even ranked high. What goldenoves. Low ranked lol

Terrible approach.

Was first team all-state.

I can name you a whole mess of kids who aren't even ranked yet and are legitimate prospects down here in South FL.

Rankings change so much once the class year really starts and spring evaluations.

If Kearney is still coming to junior day, everything will sort itself out. Kearney will have the opportunity to be recruited and look at other schools and in the end will choose the school that he believes is the best fit. Kid is a dam baller and I hope he finds his way back in dis class.

B.B.B hypothetically. ..you have a son and he is a pretty good RB and he loves Metro U...but Metro U already have the top three RBs in the Nation committed in the same class...how do you advise your son?

Son, do you think you are better than those 3 guys? Yes? Go for it, son.

I also want to add that the decision to commit should also be based on academics as well. In a "business decision" you also want a "plan b" in case something happens and your football career is cut short.

And you would have no reservations if the only time he ever saw him on the field was on SPC Teams..in 4 years?

I guess that would depend. If he got a fair shake then that is the risk you take. But if your desire is to get to the league, playing time is not the only consideration. You want to also measure up against the best of the best. If he ends up in special teams and makes his mark there, the league still needs good special teams players too.

Exactly.

Different era, with social media, YouTube, 7 on 7 camp circuit, etc etc. Kids have more exposure and can easily research teams rosters.

College coaches also can see and reach more kids now. The days of mass mailing letters and calling kids at home every night have changed.

The example you listed above.

James Jackson was a Notre Dame transfer.

Clinton Portis was a kid out of Gainesville who couldn't get UF to offer him a RB scholarship.... (Now he would have offers from everybody to play RB even if they planned to play him at DB)

Gore had a severe learning disability and wasn't offered a scholarship by UM until Butch left and Coker took over.

Because he's thinking like a fan not a parent. My son is a good football player but he's not going to have the size to play Division 1 as a safety. Now lacrosse is a different situation and he's already getting looks. You sit down with your son, you look at the pro's and con's of each program, you look at playing time and rosters, you look at the university and the type of education he can get, you look at a lot of things and you make recommendations. In the end it's your son's decision but you make sure he weighs everything in the balance and he makes an informed decision.

I feel like none of this matters come next January and kids start taking their last officials

Fair point; but you can also make the argument that my perspective is not driven by any emotional attachment, which as a parent is hard to separate from the reality of the situation when it involves your kid.

That said I pretty much agree with what you stated above. Sounds perfectly reasonable.

The cream always rises.
Actually, when draft day comes, i'm sure shared carries throughout a 3-year career are looked at more favorably than someone who's THE guy and has carried the ball 600 times.
