Latest on Highsmith

There's a poster on TOS that is not personally connected to anyone involved other than to speak with people who have access to them. He's been consistent in saying for the past two days that there are people with $$ who want change but don't have direct power to affect the change and they haven't been able to organize themselves into a single, cohesive group to make a big enough stand.

He mentioned that the people he speaks with ventured the opinion that if they were in Blake James shoes right now, the SOP would be to create more stories and misdirections about what is going on. He was told to expect more leaks, more third party leaks using different 'sources', and some planted stories that are highly likely to be from different sources to establish broader credibility. Sorta of a 'false flag' scenario. This is designed to give the perception that something is happening and they have been heard in order to keep a faction that shares interests from coordinating their efforts and continuing to move forward in with those efforts.

He also said that the end goal of all this is to drag it out long enough that these $$ people resume their regular routine and business activities and it eventually cools down...

Sounds a little like what is already happening.

What I don't get it is, money is power. If these people are bankrolling I'd be inclined to think threatening to cut off funds would put the squeeze on whomever needs it.

Apparently, its not a big enough vise. Otherwise, James would be gone and Manolo would’ve never been hired.

So, we have pushed through to another level of administrative incompetence. Figures.

So, basically Manny wants to make the OC decision without Highsmith's input and wants to be Highsmith's boss if he were hired in spite of having just fielded easily the worst Miami football team in modern history. Worse still, at what point does the administration wake up and recognize Highsmith is more qualified than our current demonstrated failure of an AD and fire Blake's enabling a$$. That Blake is not forcing Manny to accept Highsmith on whatever terms will get him back home is just further evidence of Blake's ineptitude and yet another reason he needs to go.

The real issue is the public sees Highsmith coming in as an equal to Blake, but being responsible only for football. Or at the very least, someone with authority over Manny even if he has to technically be under Blake.

Blake is spinning this as the administrative helper Stroud was hired to be, thus Manny gets a say in who is hired. Two different end goals yet it lets Blake James say they spoke to Highsmith.

As long as Blake James has no apparent "boss" and seems to have a faction of the $$ people and BOT protecting him, it's going to be tough to get around this.

No he didnt. He was a linebacker.(assuming you mean the wrestler)

He played offensive line at Penn State. In the CFL. For the Packers (tryout/preseason). For the USFL.

He was 6'4" and weighed 275. He wore #64. He was no linebacker.

From the Hurricane Warriors website:

Jacksonville Bulls (1985 USFL)

From ESPN:

Luger can trace his own introduction to steroids to a long-ago football career. He played in college as an offensive guard at Penn State and, later, at the University of Miami. In the early 1980s, he had stints in three different pro leagues -- the Canadian Football League, National Football League and the now-defunct United States Football League.

That's a load of crap. The "FUNDRAISER" never had the power to give Alonzo the power to do the job, and he certainly doesn't have the power to "back off" giving Alonzo the power now.

I don't care what you "stated in previous post", your credibility is garbage and you are getting your stories crossed up.

If ANYONE is choosing not to give Alonzo power, it's Beta Blake and Manny, NOT the "FUNDRAISER".

If the "FUNDRAISER" had the power to offer Alonzo the world, and the power to "back off" of that offer, then the "FUNDRAISER" has the power to fire Beta Blake and Manny.

You are trying to convince us that the FUNDRAISER has absolute power to hire a middleman without Beta Blake and Manny getting involved, but he can't touch Beta Blake and Manny?

I've been a part of UM for over 30 years, and that's just not how it works, or has ever worked.

You are, literally, recycling those old stories about Nevin (and, yes, Nevin wasn't personally named) putting together the money to get rid of prior head coaches.
You sound like a cuck. To say the athletic director doesnt have the authority and power to give zo the control he wanted to run the pro6is idiotic. It shows your lack of comprehension of the situation as well.

Individually, they aren't connected enough. They need to organize together and that hasn't happened sufficiently yet. Apparently most of them don't want their names out in public, either. Makes it tough....

It is the height of absurdity that Blake or anyone else at UM views Alonzo (with the dearth of experience on his resume) serving the role of talent evaluator for the head coach, when the ************ should be running our entire athletic department.
Bottom line TO ME is that Blake knows Zo will fire Manny if given that authority. Just speculating. Crazy part is if James gives up power over football Zo brings the program back Blake could have looked like a genius if spun correctly. Now everyone knows if it does happen he was forced.
