Yes, I do want Miami and therefore Mario to be highly successful. I want to win. Admittedly Kiffin amuses me, and I would have preferred his offensive mindset to Mario’s, but I don’t really care about the arrogance and the need for everyone to hate us and that was definitely more of a comment on what some may prefer related to Lane.

My beating of the dead horse related to the tied to a coach is two-fold:
1. At least the perception that the heavy investment into the program was tied to Mario. To that one, if that was/is the case, then Mario would always be the #1 choice because it really isn’t a choice if we don’t have the investment.

2. The change in expectations. Manny or Mandy or Lispy or whatever childish nickname was expected to win 10 games… now we have expectations that less than that is OK - which is mind boggling for many of the reasons you outlined: Mario was a sought after P5 coach and Manny was a learning on the fly, in over his head DC, with no resources…

Miami has had one 10 game win season in 2 decades. We are coming off a 5-7 season. Our schedule isn’t an easy one. Anyone who expects a 10 win season after a 5-7 season should re-evaluate things. Is it a possible goal? Sure. Just not realistic.

Believe me I was as upset as anyone with 5-7, I expected more too. After hearing how bad the roster really was and the terrible chemistry on the coaching staff, plus all the injuries we had we have to let last year behind us. Now, if we only win 7 games or less this year, then we can talk.
