Ladarius Gunter...expectations?

Don't know if it's been posted on the board, but Gunter has 3 years of eligibility, which is GREAT news

Good question.

I think a lot of us were tilting our heads a bit when we got him but willing to cut Golden some slack. Kid sounds ready.

It sounds like Gunter and Howard are both set to **** a lot of receivers off this year. I expect Gunter to play a lot more than McGee.

Both Gunter and Howard are more physical than McGee, and I believe will relegate McGee to the bench.

Ill wait till i see him play live first..i know its the pre season and all but people were saying the same thing about our corners at greentree last year..you guys have short memories

being better than mcgee and a true freshman isnt saying much

where was this? Have to be real delusional to be hyping up a CB group of Mike Williams (reserve at Wake Forest), Chambers (RB year before), McGee (barely played first 2 years), and Finnie (Fr.)

Last year people were clamoring how mike williams ran a 4.3 and was a senior and how he started at wake forest as a freshman/sophmore and got a raw deal.. I remember.. Lee Chambers was considered physical and very good against the run..

Just remember, opinions are like ********, everyone has one.

Why would anyone think a CB who couldn't start for Wake was going to ball out here? And why would anyone think Lee Chambers was all the sudden going to become some juggernaut in his last season?

Huge difference in Gunter being scouted with 3 seasons of eligibility who is Miami material and getting a CB with a year of eligibility because the depth is so weak.

This.

Don't equate "A few homers like DBC were saying..." to "lots of y'all were saying..."

Ummmm seeing as he is a boundary corner and McGee is a field corner why are we comparing the two? It is Howard we need to knock McGee out of his spot. I think it will be a matter of time before he does that, but it will happen. Is Howard still in black? We will have a better feel next week when the last depth chart comes out before BC.

Will be the best CB we've had in a while here

I don't know Ghost... Brandon Harris locked it down.
Yep, will be the best since BH

I sure hope all of our current CB's become better than Brandon Harris. The guy had 4 career INT's at Miami and one of those was against FAMU. He had one INT his Junior season before he left for the pro's prematurely. **** DVD had 3 career INT's over 4 seasons at Miami. He didn't even average 1 INT a season. The CB position has been abysmal since 2005 when we had the top rated pass defense in the nation. That secondary consisted of Merriweather, Jennings, Maxey, K. Philips, Ponder, and R. Philips. There were 14 INT's that year.

Harris was solid his last yr for us

He had 1 INT the entire season. Yeah he locked his side down but he never became the ball hawk he could have been. He always dropped balls that were thrown right to his numbers. His hands and ball skills needed major work IMO. Just haven't understood why players like him left early before accomplishing anything they set out for. He would have been huge in the defense last year.

Gunter in the spring game was the best cb in my opinion.

-Kid was good in run support and physical (which is why i thought he had ability to play safety)
-He has good size for a cb. He's about 6'1 190.
-Seem to have good speed also...

I expected him to seize a staring spot after the spring.

The real battle imo will be for that nickel spot...between Howard/Finnie/Crawford/Mcgee (who i think starts)

but 2 years 2 play meaning he can be redshirted if need be

No, he has 3 years to play 3 years and can still be eligible for a medical redshirt should he need one.

This. He is a redshirt sophomore

This is really more important than people talk about.

A lot of people (including myself) thought he only had 2 years, but I looked it up tonight and was surprised.

Unless bigtime Alexander comes on, I think we're done with Burns, Carter and possibly one more Safety.

I like Vernon Davis. I think Deon Bush may end up moving over to Corner. Dortch is a guy who'll chip in. It's beautiful what Golden has done with a position that was in complete shambles.

He has to do the same right now with DE and DT.
