I mean i get where your coming from. Its message board so we gotta grasp for any straws we can, just like how some thought Mateer was automatically coming because he was Ward's backup for year.

i dont think anyone with sense thought mateer was a lock, most rational people figured he was an absolute long shot

I don’t think drones is likely by any means - no smoke of him in the portal or anything - but he’s one of the more likely options to end up here as he’s related to cam, has the same QB coach, and we’re desperate

That’s a bit different than just a dude who backed up cam

I believe the Cali qb was a lock but Mario didn’t want him . You have to wonder why

My thoughts exactly. Another “bridge quarterback” and next year we’re in the same spot. Recruits wondering who we have at quarterback. The staff scrambling around for another portal rental. Plenty of help for Nickel if Mario nails the DC hire.

Ewers or getting Beck or Milroe to come back for one more year would be my guess. I'm sure they will take the USC QB if he enters the portal. Ewers best option, then Beck, and Milroe 3rd IMO.

I'm shocked we couldn't get one of Hoover/Robertson/Sorsby/Morton to portal here after how Cam performed this year. Coaches probably are too if they don't have a trick up their sleeves.

he's an extremely poor fit based on his <60% career completion percentage and low productivity as a passer; we don't need scramble-drill with our OL, we need rhythm, accuracy and good decisions.

[]__[] don't sign CJ Daniels and court Branch for a non-passer to run ball-control offense.

We've clearly been waiting on someone but it ain't him.

Dawson could get the best out of him and having a dominant OL doesn’t hurt
