I'm being dramatic? You're being dramatic. READ the rest of the thread.
You said legalized extortion, you know what extortion is right?

First, NIL isn't performance based pay. Whether or not Beck plays well has nothing to do with his pay. Professionals who are getting paid for performance have specific contracts that can pay them more or less with certain parameters for performance or health.Agreed. But what happens if I hire someone to do a job for me and they don't fulfill the parameters of the contract? They don't get paid. The players aren't interested in the fair business practices you quoted. They're looking at this as a one way street.
I'd say I'm very qualified to know the definition. My point on this has been made clear. There's nothing wrong with negotiating and players getting paid their worth.I'm being dramatic?

You really can't see the forest through the trees can you?First, NIL isn't performance based pay. Whether or not Beck plays well has nothing to do with his pay. Once again. Georgia's boosters don't have to pay Beck anything. They are free to let him leave for the NFL. If they do decide to pay him, they understand that the payment is for Name Image and Likeness, not for throwing touchdown passes or winning games. The only way he'd be cheating them out of money would be if he accepted a contract to promote products as a member of the Georgia football team and then went to the draft anyway. In which case, the other party would not be obligated to pay anything and could likely sue to get money back. Once again, depending on what the contract says.
Employees negotiating pay is never holding anyone "hostage" to me. Everyone is allowed to ask for more.Interesting... So Beck isn't holding UGA "hostage" while he negotiates a bigger NIL deal?
Guess it's only like that for Miami QBs ....

No, you just don't understand NIL. You think that it's paying players to play well. While that might be the unspoken rule, it's not the legal one. When a booster signs a player to an NIL deal, it is for NAME IMAGE AND LIKENESS. That is what they are paying for. Are they gambling paying a player for NIL when that player could turn out to be a bust? Yeah but nobody is making anyone pay anything. These are VOLUNTARY payments. You really can't see the forest through the trees can you?
No, I just completely disagree with you and can see where this is headed for the sport. You quoted fair business practices and then moved the goal posts. No, you just don't understand NIL. Flirting with the NFL is not the same as flirting with other teams. You can stop protecting Tyler now, he's gone pal.Interesting... So Beck isn't holding UGA "hostage" while he negotiates a bigger NIL deal?

It’s the same just a different modus operandi. You don’t have to like what TVD did but don’t be shortsighted and tell yourself that beck is flirting with JUST the nfl. Other teams are involved too or his agent is failing himFlirting with the NFL is not the same as flirting with other teams. You can stop protecting Tyler now, he's gone pal.
Nobody moved goal posts. You said it was "extortion", I explained why it's not. You didn't like my explanation because you don't agree with the rules. You don't have to agree with them. You also don't have to pay anyone's NIL contract either. No, I just completely disagree with you and can see where this is headed for the sport. Yes he is.
And this is exactly what I said in that Rhule thread. Beck is entering the portal without entering the portal. And he’d be dumb not to. This is what everyone wanted. Well, it’s here now. So if I was his dad, you bet your *** I’d be sitting in Kirby’s office saying “my son has options. We’d obviously love to stay here, we love you and the program and are grateful for everything. But this is a business. So if you’d like to keep Carson here next year, it’s going to cost you $2.5M. I have already spoken with 3 coaches who have offered him that amount plus his agent believes he can be a late day two pick this year. So if you can give us that amount, we’ll be back. Otherwise I have to explore other options. As a man who has done the same throughout his career, I’m sure you understand, coach.”
I’m not going to criticize the NCAA because I’m not smart enough to figure out a way to do this better than they have. And I believe, obviously, the kids should be compensated for putting a product on the field that TV networks pay BILLIONS for. But what this has morphed into ******* sucks. Maybe it’s the literal only way, again I’m not smart enough to know. But the current landscape is broken.
No, I said it was "heading toward legalized extortion". There's a big difference. That's called an oxymoron. Extortion can't be legalized. It went right over your head as well as some others too. I didn't like your explanation because it was wrong. I never once brought up the NIL rules of which I'm very familiar.Nobody moved goal posts. You said it was "extortion", I explained why it's not.
