Kaaya staying IMO

I want him to stay because he gives us the best shot of winning football games in 2017. The other QBs aren't ready. But, I've been told he's gone. It has to do with relationships.

Not rocket science with him and it's really a simple equation...he was inconsistent this year, doesn't need the money, can be a MNC qb next year = coming back

By the way, way too many soft-shouldered porsters getting up in their feelings.

Brooklyndee played for Butch and is obviously connected to the staff. The grade was most probably an overall grade average given by NFL scouts. Y'all mother cluckers degrading good posters every time they bring info on this free site is getting old real quick.

Grow some hair on your ********s or take some testosterone hormones, whatever it takes to make you all start acting like men instead of hurt little bytches.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks he is the answer next year. One additional year isn't going to undo or fix the last three years of lack of pocket presence or increase his speed. His mobility or lack of it is what it is. I agree that if he had had better coaching and was close, it would help him to stay, but he just isn't that close in my opinion. The program will survive without him and it would be in his best draft selection to go in this weak quarterback class.

Even if his footwork/mobility and pocket awareness improved ZERO the o-line will be better next year. That alone will at minimum mask his deficiencies more than they were this year while allowing him to make more of the big highlight reel throws if he has time in the pocket. It'd also afford him the opportunity to add to the "intangible" schtick list that the Mehl's and McGhey's spout off about if he does manage to win some big games and we have a good to great season.

We've seen that when he has time, he can make throws as good as anyone; however, when he is under duress (as was the case many times this season) he can be a wreck.

We're a better team with him back there isn't much doubt about that. Weldon and Perry could red shirt and be ready in 2018, would really work out quite nice. We'll see what unfolds

Yep. Someone said it- When he has time he's as good as anyone. The moment he doesn't he's as bad as anyone.

Defense will give up 13 ppg next year. So that means just need a QB who can hit a couple passes here and there and not turn the ball over. That's Kaaya to a T. Put that with a top run game- Walton, Homer, McFarland and we can score at least 19 points. That gets us to 11-1, worst case 10-2.

LOL.
If only it was as simple as that.
And 11-1 teams don't have QBs who simply hit an occasional pass or two.
Gotta make plays.

Slight correction. :)
I was watching Trubisky and dude was making some amazing passes under duress and hitting them with accuracy.
I love Kaaya and want him to succeed and all like I do for all Canes, but I have never seen make any of the passes
I saw Trubisky make today, in just one game.

I've heard his dad definitely supports him coming back

Not a surprise. His dad is a fan of the program, and would love to see his son lead the team back to prominence. He also knows doing so is good for his son's NFL draft position.

Unless Kaaya has a promise from an NFL team, I think he comes back.

God I'm full crank mode after reading that. Top 10 here we come

I think if Richt learns we have to pass to set up the run, we can be deadly. You havre o think our OL will be better, and Richt will also have a better feel for playcalling. Kaaya with protection is no joke.

Thanks Brooklyn. I am a little curious about how he gauges the round given the new feedback rules. Really appreciate the insights and hope BK sees the truth which is that it's a win/win for both sides if he comes back.

That's why I don't get why some of these porsters are making fun of my assessment. Aside from the VT game, we lost the other 3 by a grand total of 10 pts. Unless you think the defense is going to get worse with a more experienced front 7 and better athletes in the secondary (aside from Corn), we should allow fewer points per game. This year we were ranked 12th overall in college football at 19.8 points allowed. Next year we should be top 5, which puts us between 14-16 points allowed. Even if the offense is as putrid next year, giving up 14 per game gets us to 10-2 at least. Kaaya, for all his faults, takes care of the ball well. He is talented enough to make plays when he has time (which speaks to him being considerably better than just your regular caretaker qb). It's a realistic expectation that we make the ACC championship game next year. So that means 10-2 going in.

Totally off topic but have you heard anything regarding the schedule opening next year? p5 or fcs?

Also no way believe he got a 5th round grade

Why not? Dak Prescott who has better physical tools and was everything to Miss. State's offense was a 4th round pick. Kaaya benefited from being good as a freshman and the hype that came with it and everyone expected him to grow exponentially. He's a solid college QB.

Dak getting a DUI before draft dropped him from 2nd round pick

In a perfect world this would make sense but the reality is that other teams will get better as well. You also must take into consideration that there is more film on our defense now so teams have more to scout and breakdown as apposed to the lack of film this year do to the transition to a 4-3 defense. We as fans got to get away from thinking that this years opponents will remain the same and we are the only team capable of getting stronger.
