It does really feel like there's zero margin of error for Miami. From the media, recruits, and the playoff overlords. Did OSU and Bama's embarrassing losses (to worse teams than Syracuse) have the bottom fall out for them? No. But I guess that's what 20 years of mediocrity does. Little to no room for error.

Back to back classes now we really counted on flipping/closing our biggest targets closer to signing day. Worked out in our favor last cycle with Scott and Blount. We essentially struck out this cycle. I think internally there was a miscalculation on Vernell Brown and Ben Hanks. Staff figured UF would fall apart and we could scoop them late which obviously did not happen. I also question having 2 UF legacy guys at the top of your board and having all eggs in that basket.

I hope this next class we get the higher end guys in the boat earlier in the process.

Think more or less about the evals. We had 21 commits going into the season. As of today, none of them moved into the top 250 or 100. We signed 2 out of the top 100. It's like they staff said their evals were better than the composite. Let's see how that shakes out.
People on here are also a bit schizo about it all. Three of the recruits many have repeatedly said they want badly and who then signed with us, Nickel, Toney, and Wiley, are only rated as high 3 or low 4 stars, so that brings down the precious rankings that so many focus on despite many viewing them as must get, top of the board players. Plus, even with those coveted players "only" rated 89 and bringing down our average, our class average is right up there or even higher than many of the the teams above us who simply have a bigger class, but not higher quality. The reality is outside of the very top few programs, there is a lot of parity in rankings and what really matters is how well the coaches evaluated and how the recruits fit a need

We have no sure quarterback for next year on offense, and a dead man walking at defensive coordinator after fielding one of the worst defenses we’ve ever witnessed. We haven’t been dominant in one game outside of the first one. We’ve won ugly all year against teams with a pulse. I’d say we did alright today barring these circumstances. All this gloom and doom will go away if Mario can hire a Top Notch DC, the most important recruit of this class. Plenty of spare money left to get it done.

Why does this successful 10-2 season feel like every other mediocre/ below average season of the last 2 decades 😕
Some of that is self-imposed. This is not a "terrible" class by any stretch, just a step back from the last 2 years which were elite classes. And it may prove to be more than adequate depending on what shakes out in the portal.
