We hired him for talent acquisition. It would be like hiring a new CEO that is supposed to increase revenue through a better sales strategy and then not being able to ask about sales. This is our entire bet - that Mario will out talent everyone

Yea cause all the other HCs couldn't recruit. Even all the x and I sh we tried it ain't work cause the talent was cheeks. Now we serious about talent acquisition. Problem is a lot of HCs at key places are serious recruiters. Every program is doing it.

For sure. But if we are going to play in this arena, we better know what it takes. I see constant “top 10-15” classes… that’s not going to be good enough fr. We don’t have a schematic advantage like even a little - we need to be stacking top 5 classes to play in that arena. No one wants to acknowledge it because we’ve been so bad, but if the goal is to compete for championships then that’s what it’s going to take. The top 3 programs are so far ahead of everyone else

I don’t think anyone could honestly argue with any of this.

I think the big divide here though is some people are holding off on the panic mode until the dust settles and some others are really in the weeds about it every day

Neither approach is right or wrong, but I think everyone should acknowledge what you’re saying is absolutely the truth

Mario flirted with a top 5 class last year and in “down years” I think we still need to have our floor be in the 10 range. We can’t have 15-20 ranked classes, we just can’t (consistently anyway)

You are correct. Some posters follow it on daily, micro levels. Others just check the end results. A bunch are in between. I won’t speak for other but my urgency/concern is mostly tied to the fact that this is really our only way out with Mario - stacking elite talent

Have to recruit top 5 classes yearly and sneak in a number one class. If you want to win it takes that and elite evals

No it's not. The bet is that he will get us the necessary talent(necessary doesn't mean average & it doesn't mean top 3 in their position groups) & develop it enough for us to compete... It doesn't need to be the best of the best because a top class consistently isn't practical. A top tier class keying on our needs certainly is.
