If the reports are true that Beck is getting $9.5 all in with NiL deals and collective cash, Smith could get $12-15.

Suppose he has a Travis Hunter opinion that no matter where he plays it won’t matter about being drafted. He won his NC. He could be the first major player to win on 2 different teams. (A backup on OSU this year was on Michigan's team last year). If the money is the same why is this such a crazy concept? He'll still be the best WR against ACC DBs with a good offensive system.

I was rooting for him to be **** for going to OSU but let's be real .... he's the best WR in college already and will likely be Andre Johnson 2.0.

This is just as much about showing all the future kids you can stay at home than what he can do playing for the team the next two years.

Ohio State is going to milk this for a decade getting the best WRs from SFL just like Saban did after Amari Cooper.

I hear you on that front. But there were legitimate sources that confirmed it literally could’ve gone either way. Whether that was due to Cam Ward not committing or not, only a few truly know if he’d committed or not….but OSU was legitimately worried that he’d flip to Miami on NSD.

This time we already have our QB committed - so while I’m not going to hold my breath, you really never know in this NIL player movement era

The top two WR threads in this forum are for players who just won the national championship and have given no indication they'd enter the portal. Instead of aiming for people who are overjoyed with their current position, why not look for some who might have all the tools, but isn't on a team who stands a chance.

Exactly. And I guarantee there’s is someone taking to Jeremiah’s family and at least asking him the question if he would be open to it. I bet some GM’s would draft him in the first round just based on freshman talent alone, even if he didn’t produce same numbers next two seasons.
 
And this discussion isn’t solely Jeremiah Smith based. It’s the offseason. If you’re serious about winning and ‘TALENT ACQUISITION’ then you have a team who is back channeling every possible difference maker who has ties to the area or you have previous relationships with.

Burner phone calls, calls to relatives, FaceTime and adding a third party into the call. Ask the questions. All this stuff needs to be done if you really want to stack as much talent as possible. Don’t cry about tampering, if you ain’t ‘cheatin’ you ain’t tryin, SEC model for two decades that made all the difference.
