JSmith blank check

Miami should just start an offer to him at $2M a year and then increase it until he says yes.

Break the cycle of the generational talents following the blueprint of going to OSU/Bama/UGA/LSU.

Start a new trend.

His price is double that.

But it's so cute that you're trying.

He'd be dumb to not enter the free market. I'm not even saying he actually transfers, but enter the portal and see what you can get. He'd be the highest paid player in the history of the sport by miles. Leverage the absolute top of the market. Maybe someone jumps and gives you $5M a year. Maybe more? Jump in the portal and find out.

Kid just proved he was the difference between a Natty and Day getting fired. Anyone with a $$$ interest in OSU knows JS more critical than Day.
He ain’t going anywhere.

The only question is how much higher is he going to charge OSU - if he’s smart, he leaves himself an out to renegotiate each year.

Oh and once he signs that B1G template contract, he is done done. lol

Whatever happened to the days when you wanted to kick your opponent’s äss rather than kiss it and beg him to play on your team?

I’m certain I’ll get a lot of Geritol and AARP comments back at me - and I get it. At some point though, we gotta ride with what we got and actually issue some beat downs.

I just wish he would be like you know what, I'm going home to help my hometown win a NC. I will get to see my parents more, play with my friends, and be a hero.

Its -14 wind chill in Columbus this AM, no reason I need to subject myself to this. Miami will give me a big NIL, and I can catch passes from a proven QB not some unproven RS frosh.

I think the hometown championship argument would apply more during his junior season. I just don’t see a top 5 player in college football leaving immediately after a championship.

This is what people have yet to grasp. Every player is a free agent. And every player should find out their value on the open market every year if they believe their value has increased. To not do so is to not understand how free agency and the free market works. It’s not disloyal. It’s good business.

It's far easier to say "he aint comin" but OP is right. At the very least you make him say no. We're not some random school that wants him. This is the generational player from down the street. If I was in Miami's football leadership I wouldn't be ok with assuming it and would have to hear it emphatically.

You do whatever you can to not let the Andre Johnson, Sean Taylor type talent from Miami say over NBC Sunday Night Football airwaves, "Jeremiah Smith...THE O.."

Make him say no again?

You have to try, especially with several of his former teammates on the roster. Likely, no? But you gotta' try to change the trends.
