I am 100% confident Gattis will move on. But I am getting super annoyed it's taking so long. Mario just went through a OC hunt last year so should have a bunch of names and contacts there. He also had to have known he needed to begin reaching out at least by the VIrginia game, hopefully as early as MTSU. He should be lining em up and knocking em down at this point.

100% spot on. The only other thing I’d add is that maybe his #1 choice is currently interviewing for HC jobs…as that is his preference. Hence another hold up.

Purely speculation, but some of the names thrown around fall into this bucket.

At its core, my problem with Mario's staffing decisions is timing. I know he knows more about the candidates that I could ever learn. Heck that is one major reason he is a HC at a major program. But, to fans, recruits and their families, nearly every other HC makes hire-fire decisions quickly and then moves forward with the "new" program. So, what we see is Mario is doing nothing [I know what insiders tell us] or he is letting the world guess the direction of the program. In this instance, I suspect that either is "bad".

Of course, I hope we land the number one recruiting classes in both high school and portal and we win everything next year and I don't care who the coaches are. But, as of 12-9-2022 I am concerned.......
Generally agree but just because the fans and public do not know does not mean the recruits and their families do not. They are on a need to know basis. We are not.

Mario takes forever. Its just what he does.

I posted in another thread that he waited until after signing day in February to fire Jim Leavitt, then promoted his LB coach a week later. You'd think he'd have fired Leavitt after the season if he was going to promote from within anyway.

Gattis situation seems eerily similar to Leavitt's. The entire world knows Gattis is done. But here we are.

honestly we know hes gone. we believe the insiders. the thing no one will explain is him on the road recruiting and meeting our commits if hes fired lol. it doesnt make sense to send a fired OC to help lure commits and lock down recruits. if we didnt have the insiders, to anyone from an objective viewpoint will tell you the staff as a whole is working as if theyre all coming back

Please just re-read what you wrote.

He's not "officially" fired, which explains everything that follows. Therefore nobody needs to explain nothin' to recruits. When Gattis finds a job elsewhere, he will be one of dozens (maybe hundreds) of coaches who change jobs between December 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023.

Yes, the staff as a whole SHOULD be working as if they're all coming back. They are under contract. They SHOULD earn their salaries in the meantime. Even if they leave soon.

Maybe Gattis knows he's gone but he's professional (or if nothing else, self-serving) enough to keep doing his job while he's collecting a UM paycheck and isn't trying to burn any bridges on his way out.

If the man straight up refused to recruit he could probably be fired for cause, and I doubt Mario or anyone at UM would give him their endorsement when a potential future employer calls asking about his past job performance.

Or maybe he's staying, IDK.

Yes.

It's in everyone's best interests to remain professional.

Again, D$ never said Gattis was fired. He said the people he talks to around the program are acting like he's gone. Huge difference. None of us know for certain what Mario wants to do. I'm not going to disparage anyone who claims to have "insider" info, but remember when a legit insider (actual CIS staff writer) reported that Major Applewhite was hired as our next OC (until he wasn't)? Sometimes people just get bad info. Sometimes things change. All we know right now at this moment is that Josh Gattis is still the Offensive Coordinator for the University of Miami, and he is apparently still on the recruiting trail.
Correct, DMoney did say that there was better chance of Gattis being fired than us getting Samson. As of yesterday, DMoney said he believes Miami to still be the leader for Samson, so I took that as pretty good chance that Gattis is gone.

All respect to Stefan but he was no DMoney or Cribby when it came to sources, got closed out under the Manny regime and nonexistent during Mario's 1st year. People get it wrong but I'll take our insiders words over your typical CIS porster saying Gattis is coming back.

Quit making sense. That’s not allowed on CIS.

Checks for updates on josh dont got this..

ferris youre still here GIF

I really want to believe the people here who are so confident that Gattis is gone, but whether that’s true or not, let me ask: can anyone name ONE single benefit to keeping him here, going on most of the visits, literally having dinner with a recruit, if the intention is to fire him?

If he really is gone, I feel like the process here is horrendously flawed. Other teams are already making their moves while Miami is sending out a dude, who is supposedly not going to be here next season, out to our commits and other recruits. Whether he’s gone or not, this is lunacy.

Edit: before anyone says it, I do remember that Diaz was still recruiting a little last season, but everyone knew he was gone, nobody really pretended otherwise. What REAL indication has there been that Gattis is gone?

Agreed. You give him x amount of time to get his **** together. This shouldn’t be a charity where we wait forever for him to find his footing while candidate after candidate gets swooped up.

I’ve got one NFL name in mind where it would be acceptable to wait, and a few college ones. But it ain’t a whole lot.

Would like to hear this.
