While I have no doubt neither Mario nor Gattis expected what happened to transpire and that the team would have 'fared better' with less injuries, it wasn't like the O was lighting the world on fire prior to TVD being injured. Yes, there was a game and a half where TVD put up crazy passing numbers, but the running game was non-existent and there was no rhythm. In a game where TVD threw for just shy of 500 yards, we only scored 24 points which was the 2nd most points we scored against a P5 team.

Even if you were to give Gattis a pass for the injuries, he managed to alienate the players which I might also be willing to give him a pass for if he didn't have a rep for alienating people at previous stops.

So yeah, maybe if you put Gattis into the perfect situation he would thrive, but this obviously isn't the perfect situation and he couldn't even muster a top 85 offense with way better than top 85 talent (even with injuries). He is making way too much money to not put up better results and not **** off half the team at the same time.

It does matter. I understand Mario is a master recruiter, but it puts us at a disadvantage trying to close on these recruits. This is getting dragged out way too long with early signing day coming up. How he didnt have his guy in place weeks ago is mind boggling.

Is Mario going to do something like announce the coaches leaving during the ACC game tonight so they talk about it during the game? Maybe? Please?

So he hasn’t expanded our analyst system, redone facilities, expanded the support staff, oh, and recruiting is the lifeblood of any program. He made some bad hires and went about it in a weird way. It happens and now he is hopefully hitting the reset.

"Made some bad hires" is an understatement if Ive ever seen one. We completely ruined one of the best Qbs in the country with his hire. Cant rely on recruiting alone. Poorly coached team is going to always find a way to loose. Hows texas A&M lifeblood doing? Took too long to make the hire last year, and is doing the same this year. Analyst system? Support staff? Beat ******* middle Tennessee. Monster recruiter. Absolutely I will give him that. Doesnt take away from the fact that hes been extremely underwhelming in other areas.

I’m guessing the people who really matter, such as the recruits you mention, know what’s really going on.

Can’t argue with any of that. It’s more frustrating seeing what USC, LSU, and TCU have done, but let’s see where we are in a year or two. Hopefully better off than where we are today.

This 1000%. Outside of recruiting Mario failed every conceivable expectation. The team's performance on the field took a significant step back and that falls 100% on Mario. Furthermore instead of addressing the biggest problem with this team (the offense) he's prioritizing recruiting. This is consistent with his in season comments that the roster is the problem. I hope I'm wrong and that Mario will make the appropriate coaching changes needed... But I fear that he feels that this is on the players and not on the coaches.

If that's the case we're in for a loooong and dreadful tenure the likes of Golden.
 
important question. has gattis come out in any of the pictures with recruits the last few days? i haven't seen any
