This implies (to me) that they were given the option that they can either keep their job & just continue recruiting, or they can find a new job, but they will not be fired. (And by they I mean JG & Ponce, but I’m sure that extends to the rest of the staff as well).

So I guess the reason this process has taken so long is because until you find a new job you won’t get axed, all that he asks of you is just keep recruiting.

At least that’s just my interpretation, I could be wrong though.

But if you don’t land a job….keep on keepin’ on regarding position/title?
 
Common & successful are not mutually exclusive. That wasn’t the point. The point was who played defensive in school & became a “successful OC” at any level. Not who became a successful HC or DC, but actually a successful play caller on Offense. Right now, it’s Chip. Briles played both offense & defense in school.
CIS favorite Joe Brady's first job was LB coach at William & Mary.
Followed by 2 years as a GA at Penn State and 2 years as offensive assistant to Sean Payton.
Then his Wonder Year at L$U.
