So here’s a novel idea. Every insult @SinisterCane threw was a counterpunch. The insults thrown by @TheOriginalCane , @OrangeBowlMagic and @GrozDozer were all 1st blood insults so those three got infractions and thread and and @SinisterCane skates free with nada. Unfortunately for Groz he had a couple points so the system kicked him for the week.

For all of you that draw 1st blood and then cry at the counterattack, or 3rd parties who report the counterattack, that’s the risk you/they take and what you/they get when you go down the aggressor’s path.
Whatever gets us to 500 pages works for me

Almost everything I've read about him straight up says he sucked everywhere he's been and coaches didn't like him or even hated him. I'm sure there are some nice articles on him obviously but i looked when his name came up as potentially being our OC and it was 80% bad.

-Dude straight up lied about calling plays at Bama. Huge red flag, Locksley (the actual offensive coordinator who called plays) absolutely hates the guy. Seemed pretty dismissive of his coaching abilities as well.

-Nobody at Michigan liked him. He called plays his first two years and the offense was so bad Harbaugh almost got fired. They then let Weiss, who was only an analyst, call plays and mostly game plan (Harbaugh was much more hands on as well). Gattis was not allowed to call plays and basically just assisted with game planning the Weiss/Harbaugh offense.

-After that first food year Harbaugh almost left for the NFL and the AD started sending out feelers for his replacement. Gattis wasn't even considered, he got super butthurt. On top of that, Harbaugh promoted Weiss to be co-OC since he was already running the offense anyway. This was obviously a bad look for Gattis since it was now public and this is when Mario swooped in and hired him after apparently doing poor due diligence.

He's always sucked and has failed upwards somehow from what I can tell.
Correct. There were plenty of warning signs: https://247sports.com/Article/Insid...tis-before-he-was-hired-per-report-194384524/
"First thing is, when Mario hired Josh Gattis, I had some people hit me up in the coaching community and tell me, ‘That move’s not going to work out like people think it is.’ ‘Cause they saw the headlines, and they saw that Miami was being praised for poaching Josh Gattis — Broyles Award winner Josh Gattis — away from Michigan," Pate said. "Another coach said Michigan will not be hurt at all by this. And if you’re looking at Michigan now, have you watched them all year and thought to yourself, ‘Boy man, they are missing Josh Gattis,’? No. So a lot of what I had told to me has been validated. Again, that’s not me watching. That’s not me ascribing my opinion on it. I am regurgitating what coaches said to me. And then, the second thing I want to tell you is, once we got into the season a little bit, there has not been … forget a week, there has not been a series for Miami hardly that’s gone by when they’re playing where I haven’t had coaches texting me saying, ‘See what I mean? See that? You watching this? You seeing what’s not happening with Miami?’ So I know a lot of Miami fans are very upset with the production or lack thereof from the offense so far. I can tell you that your feelings have been echoed by a lot of people with no skin in the game down there but are in the game as coaches."

don't think its hand holding. The dude is still on contract and if you fire him UM will have to eat the rest of his contract. If he "leaves" for another job then UM owes him nothing. It's that simple.

I guess at some point a decision will need to be made if he doesn't get hired what to do with him. Another option could be some type of demotion and hiring someone else to do the play-calling.

Still think Penn State is a good spot for him. He's worked for Franklin before and Franklin appears to like him so more than likely will do what he can to help him out.
I don’t believe UM is off the hook monetarily if he leaves. He has been TOLD to find another job. So whatever salary the new job pays will be an offset against his $1.8 million 2023 UM contract. If he gets $500K from PSU - UM will still owe him $1.3 Mil

They had a top 5 offensive line in the country. Your broader point is correct about Mario. He made some **** poor choices in his staff. But it’s not like Lanning walked into a terrible situation and waved a wand and fixed everything.
lanning didnt but they did lose transfers and i believe recruits when mario left. the OL was great but the OL was great the year before and the QB was complete ****. lanning improved that team w the portal (esp after losing their best RBs to the portal i believe) while also coaching. at the end of the day, mario would have been successful if he hit right on the coordinator hire. hes got a second chance so well see what ahppens w the new hires

I’d argue that Miami’s ineptitude on the offensive and defensive lines were as big a cause for the season we had than anything else. I don’t think Oregon had that problem. Wonder why.
oregon didnt have the issue on the line ht eyear before when mario had a trash QB. id say adding Bo Nix and new RBs/WRs along wiht an already great OL helped Oregon (we went through the scoring numbers ad nauseum here - mario did a great job on the OL but lanning and co did a great job on improving that offense to a place where it hadnt ever been under mario). both can be true and both deserve credit (mario w the program rebuilding and oL and lanning with the offensive improvement and portal success).

Very nice

He's still here.
According to Dmoney, staff changes won’t be made until the recruiting period ends. But Gattis hasn’t been recruiting on campus and hasn’t been recruiting off-campus.

So the guy is literal deadweight. We’re killing ourselves by not having an actual OC for some of these visits.

Makes no ******* sense.
