Mario could hire Andy Reid as OC tomorrow and I’d still say it to his face that he should have fired Gattis immediately after his ******* stupid ****headed-*** failed to score a single ******* touchdown against our current biggest in-state rival, to avoid recruiting misses and the negative perception of disorganization from the High School community

Nothing really new or earth shattering.

They touched on all the things that have been covered within this thread the past few days:

1. Coaches meeting held on Monday.
2. Within meeting calling out coaches not recruiting
3. Caneville reiterated Gattis hasn’t been talking to any recruits and is likely gone
4. Expects announcement within a week
No leads on new OC

From around 3min mark to 27min mark

Just last week they said Gattis wasn’t going anywhere. Smh..

Haven’t checked in for a while but will ask my standard question again: what is the most benign / harmless reason Gattis hasn’t been let go?

Because the man has a family & you don’t put a man out on the street when he has mouths to feed...

Imagine the guilty conscious that comes with knowing that the decision you make determines if someone is going to be homeless or not... I don’t blame The Holy father for not firing GJ, it would be morally bankrupt & uncouth.

Gattis shoulda been saving the $1.8mm paid to him over the past year

It’ll be about $900k take home but still….

Do you think Mario will put even more emphasis on recruiting for the next OC? I’m honestly surprised with Gattis WR recruiting because just looking at non-Bama kids, he’s recruited some good kids, especially the Penn St run.
Hopefully not

With NIL...And with CMC being a beast recruiter...And with all the recruiters on staff and guys that you can hire as WR coach with strong recruiting ties...

We don't need our OC to be a recruiter. We need a guy that can coordinate a **** offense.

Most benign/harmless reasoning I can think of is:
  1. Mario made the decision to move on a while back as Cribby has been saying;
  2. For whatever reason he felt it was necessary to wait for NFL Black Monday and/or the CFP to finish prior to deciding on a new OC (the most benign version of this would be him having a fairly strong hunch about specific potential targets);
  3. Mario doesn't see a huge difference between recruiting with Gattis as a lame duck OC as opposed to recruiting without the spot filled at all (this would involve making sure kids know Gattis won't be back, but not necessarily being able to tell them who the OC will be); and
  4. Because he doesn't see a difference between these two things, he tells Gattis to do his best to find a landing spot before NFL/CFP timing forces his hand.
That being said, everything above means we have had to deal with Josh Gattis being our OC for the past few months when shouldn't have even been allowed back on campus after the FSU game.

It would be a 4 step sequence to explain this decision. Is that good or bad?

Obviously I think everything involving and surrounding Josh Gattis being employed by the University of Miami is a disaster. But if for some reason Mario knew he wasn't making a hire until after the NFL season or after the CFP, the whole thing at least makes some logical sense even if it made Canes message boards unbearable for several months.

don't be so dramatic, he is a relatively wealthy man.
