Breaking: Sources have indicated to me that Miami and Garrett Riley have agreed on a deal that will make him the next offensive coordinator at the University of Miami. He will receive a significant pay raise, making him one of the highest paid coordinators in all of the country. Current OC Josh Gattis is in talks with Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School to be their next head coach. Sources have also indicated to me that he’s targeting former Miami staffer Mark D'Onofrio to be the defensive coordinator. I’m told this deal is very close to being finalized.

You had me until "deal is very close to being finalized". CIS porsters told me that Mario works more slowly than that...

Mario really is ******** himself and the team everyday that Gattis remains…. Particularly on the talent acquisition front

I can’t think of another school that had a similar situation as this

Letting an underperforming coordinator stay hidden for weeks during prime recruiting/transfer season

Josh Gattis has set the Mario rebuild back 18 months
💯

This team, in its current construction, will be lucky to win 7 games.

Missing out on weapons to help your QB and offense, the over reliance on freshman (as this is Mario’s foundation class) is not set up to win much this upcoming season and 7 wins if everything breaks right with Gattis.

I get it. Maybe Mario wants to be super selective with certain transfers if you’re offering playing time to the freshman as part of your pitch but WR and DT are major problems. Nobody wants to play in this offense, no matter the money.

It’s the wrong approach.

Great post man.

We can stack Alabama talent and not win **** if he is dead set on this style offense.

Getting WRs at miami should be the easiest thing ever. I cant blame WRs for passing on miami at this point in time.

If he doesnt win more than 7 next year its just going to get worse.

I won’t necessarily agree that if they win only 7 it will get worse but it’s just a longer term rebuild when in today’s age of football with transfers and all, it shouldn’t take past 2-3 years (see TCU, FSU, Tennessee, USC, South Carolina, etc, etc) to be a a good team (9+ wins).

As others have said here (like @Memnon and others) Mario shouldn’t be depending only on high 4*s and 5*s to win.

Gotta coach up and bring up the other players on the team and you need an OC that can help do that.

Like you said, you can’t be missing on WRs but I do agree that you need to be solid on the offensive and defensive lines as that makes everything easier on the QB, RBs, etc as long as you have the right OC in place.

I completely agree on focusing on both lines. Thats absolutely where mario should be concentrating. All great teams have big time lines.

We all know he can recruit and nil has helped us but Miami turns on coaches quick. He has to start winning or recruiting will slip some.
