moral victory mentality
4th in the nation recruiting ranking a moral victory? Best class on paper in over a decade? What would you then call all those other recruiting classes?

WR and DT (so far) has been disappointing no doubt but some of you just relish being miserable sobs. If you can’t see anything positive in Mario’s 1st full fledged recruiting class I would suggest some detox therapy to get off the mopium.

It’s not a knock on Mario, it’s a knock on Gattis. The premise is that Gattis is so toxic that he’s negatively impacting WR recruiting despite the fact that Mario is an elite recruiter.

Hasn’t impacted oline, tes, rbs. Debatable if it’s impacted qbs. The fact both Garcia and TVD reaffirmed their commitment may or may not indicate Gattis’ future status. But it’s an interesting development.

I think we should focus on dt personally. WR is important but not at the expense of firing someone for the sake of firing. Maybe aside from wr portal candidates 2024 will be the focus there.

It is apparent Mario has his own timeline for making any changes which has historically been his pattern. I am sure he is aware what’s hurting or not the program. Wait until the dust settles. Then complain or praise once results are in. Otherwise all this complaining is just like flatulence in the wind.

lmao...February 9th actually but yea. You skipped a lot of next dates that the board will focus on. I was just about to post the timeline of dates the board will ride with:

January 9 - National Championship Game, last game of season. Riley becomes available.
January 13 - End of coaching conference orgy. Some coaches will be impressed by seeing Gattis in person.
January 15 - Cormani signs imaginary papers. Once Cormani signs, we can let go of Gattis bc he was integral to the recruitment
February 1 - National Signing Day. Gattis might be recruiting some more walk on Qbs so cant let him go before then.
February 9 - He was hire on this date 1 year ago.
February 14 - Valentines day

February 20 - My birthday. Gift will be Gattis's firing

find me one person who doesn’t see the positives.

saying everyone should be satisfied with the way things are, simply because we have the 4th ranked class, when we know a better OC would have resulted in more wins and therefore a better class, is moral victory mentality.

that’s like i seen someone say it doesn’t matter if we get Cormani because he’s just the cherry on top. the #1 committed recruit in this class who we fought off Bama for is just the “cherry on top” - moral victory mentality. Cormani is the crown jewel of this class.

In a vacuum I don’t mind Frank Ponce as QB coach

My issue is that by going with the combo of WR coach /OC + QB coach, you severally limit yourself in future hiring because that’s not the norm

Yup...Nver understood doing it like this.

Basically no one does this now...If they ever did.

The fact remains we are still a top 5 or 6 class w/o Cormani. Would losing him be tough? Sure. But some are implying the class is a debacle if we lose him.

We just need proper perspective. I get as fans we get emotional but, man, some here are borderline emotional wrecks and need to get a life.

If there’s a new OC, Ponce is gone too. I’m pretty sure we’re the only P5 program with a wide receiver coach as an OC. We will need a new WR coach to replace Garbage Gattis and that would put us over the number of in field coaches allowed.

Most likely scenario is that whoever takes the OC job also gets the QB coach title and we hire someone who can actually recruit receivers to coach them.

Yessir, that was the original plan when McClendon was hired.

Mario needs a sniper WR coach

i hope so. I don't think Ponce did anything to make Gattis offense easier for the QB room......

From what has been said, he made the situation worse.... TVD needs a solid QB coach this season

There are OCs that don’t coach qbs but in most cases they are qb coaches too. I have even seen where some guy’s background is coaching wrs but they get made qb coach because they are oc now
