I was making a joke because I can’t envision a world where Garrett leaves TCU for a lateral position at Miami

Would obviously love to be wrong haha

My worthless thoughts here

Does Riley have full control at TCU? I feel like because Dykes is HC even if Riley's calling plays it MAY not be HIS offense he envisions himself running. Mario would give him full control (I'd hope) which could be enticing.

You're Riley and offered 1. A promotion (let's be real, an OC opportunity at Miami is still coveted over TCU for most), 2. Full control of your offense, 3. A big *** raise

I wouldn't think it would be far fetched at all that he could take the job here.

Why would Garrett Riley take what is at best, a "lateral" move to UM?
Does not make sense.
If TCU beats UGA we are in deep kimchi.

I don’t care what you think about the Dawgs. They just beat Taint and they might help us get a decent OC.

Although I doubt it.

Agree with all of this. And just watching the game yesterday I didn’t see a whole lot of Sonny Dykes on the radio calling a bunch of plays. It’s only a one game sample for me and we of course don’t know what goes on during the week but the game GR called yesterday was a masterpiece. Exactly what we need in Coral Gables and appeared to be pretty balanced between power run and big pass plays which we know Mario would love. Not surprised to hear that there has been dialog.

Maybe I’m wrong but hasn’t TCU been spending big money? So it wouldn’t necessarily be a raise?

I don’t think they would just let him go but could be wrong I don’t know much about TCU inner workings

When I made that post, that week, Mario finished his meetings with every single player, was finishing meetings with coaches, had a big recruiting weekend of visits, and was modifying things about the program. 17 players have left since then and I expect coaching changes to be public soon.

Edit: i do not what will happen with Gattis.

I hope I can recover from CIS posters who don’t believe me though.

No idea how much they're spending and I'm sure they'd try to give him a raise to stay. But didn't we essentially offer Gattis double his MI salary? I'm sure Riley isn't even making what Gattis did at MI. I believe giving him Gattis's contract he has at UM to Riley would be a pretty sizeable raise.

Personally I almost feel psychologically prepared for all possible outcomes. Just hoping for the best at this point.

I’m with ya. If we have him an absurd contract they couldn’t or didn’t want to match then sure, money can always sway the deal.

Then again if they let him walk like Michigan did to Gattis…. 😬

Offer Garrett a cool 2 mill, full autonomy over the offense and allow to bring at least 1 assistant of his choice, maybe even 2. I’d let him hand pick WR & TE coach if necessary. Building Miami back into a juggernaut would give allow him to basically handpick whatever P5 job he wants that’s available in 2025.

If Jesus comes down and helps with the playcalling, then maybe this TCU team beats the Dawgs on a neutral field. If they do, Garrett Riley’s agent is going to be a VERY busy man.

He ain’t coming here.

What is we offer him head coach positon? Please and thank you.
