Jordan Lyle is not Hurt

That's about what he should get.

Giving him more than 15 carries would likely result in a loss.
I view him as an elite role player. Not every team has a 230-pound back who gets 5.7 yards a pop and rolls up first downs while also being a plus in protection.

If we used him like a 25-carry guy, the lack of elusiveness and patience becomes more of an issue. The way he’s being used now is the perfect role for him on a championship offense.

Nahh bro you’re crazy. All Homer could do was run in a straight line. Deejay has been one of my favorite recent canes and he was a stud here no doubt. But neither of them are even close to Walton when it comes to pure talent imo. Btw I love both Homer and Deejay
All three were great backs. The 50 yard TD run that Walton had called back for a stupid holding call on the other side of the play against FSU in 2016 might be one of the best runs I’ve ever seen

Both Fletcher and Lyle are super young. I know Fletcher has a season already under his belt and is playing a ton this season. But he did lose an entire offseason to injury. I think it's premature to guess how either develops over the next year or two. They'll make an exceptional combo next season regardless.

Will not second-guess the coaches on rotation but I believe Lyle would help with slow starts & the luls we have offensively. Would love to see Lyle as starter, Fletcher in middle relief, & Martinez as closer.

Lyle had a great game. But the discourse on Martinez play is crazy, he’s been clutch all year, powerful running, blitz pick up’s and in the passing game which I didn’t expect coming into this season
What’s the discourse on Martinez? Seems like ppl are just saying Lyle needs more carries

I wanted Miami to bring in 2 RBs in this upcoming class. There's a chance Ajay Allen hits the portal and u can't blame him with him only having 2 years left (hope he stays) and Martinez hitting the draft. Were down 2 RBs with only Girard Pringle coming in. We gotta get 1 from the portal and here's the thing what good RB is coming to Miami knowing we already have Lyle and Fletcher here?
If you're a dawg, you're not worried about Fletcher.

I hate disagreeing with the Legend, but this is one where we just see it very differently.

Fletcher is a really good football player. There's no narrative. He averages 5.7 YPC, dominates in short-yardage, blocks, and batters the opponent. He's a big piece of our #1 offense, and he should be. He's not a franchise back like Edge or McGahee, but I don't see many people making those comps.

I agree Lyle is the best runner, and has more upside overall. Next year, my guess is that Martinez's carries go to Lyle and he forms a great 1-2 punch with Fletcher. I also wouldn't be surprised if Girard Pringle plays a change-of-pace role early in his career (similar to Lyle this season).

Fletcher just went 6-55 yds-9.2 ypc

The backlash against Fletcher is this thread is surprising.

But I guess whenever the fanbase wants the backup to have more carries, they feel the need to tear down the guy in front of him (justified or not)

I get the excitement over Lyle, but there's no need to trash Fletcher.

At this point I give Lyle the most carries he can handle before diminishing returns. If feelings are hurt, they're hurt.

These running backs are replaceable.

Lacks size. Lacks top end speed. Etc.

if all you guys are gonna do is argue about which back is better, I have to wonder when the last time any one of you got laid....

Speed and power. Plus he produced in big time games. Has a much better yards per carry average too. Let me call my rb expert in here @bshaw28

@Cane4L - Production is the case for Homer & Dallas > Walton

Walton racked up huge stats vs bad opponents. It gave the illusion he was better than he was.

But against good/quality opponents - Walton was really bad, and Homer/Dallas were really good.
