I respectfully disagree with this stance.
Herndon was above average (IMO good) tight end in every aspect of the role, including blocking. Our offensive line looked noticeably worse, once Herdon went down for the season, which to me, is a direct correlation to Herndon's good blocking abilities as a TE.
Agreed that Herndon was a very good blocker. But also agree with the previous poster about Bubba Franks. For some reason (passing of time?) he doesn't get mentioned like Shockey, Winslow, Olsen, Graham, Njoku, etc. But Franks may have been a more complete TE than any of them. Was excellent for us and also had a long, productive NFL career.
