Prior to seeing him in person, I too thought that his speed was deceptive. After going to a few games during his junior year, a couple during his senior year, and going to the state track finals a couple of weeks ago, I can attest that he is just flat out fast. When he was split out last year, DB's would play press man against him and he would just blow right by them.

I agree with you regarding his strides. He reminds of a deer, meaning he is fast as he'll, but it looks effortless.

I am beyond excited to see this guy dawn the orange and green.

I don't like him for the simple fact he's more Ertz-y than Olsen-y. If you know football then you know this statement sums it up. I think we still good production and that he'll be a great representative of the U.

Have you seen our current two TEs on the roster?!? They just need to be better than those 2 clowns, which will be achieved in the first few weeks of Fall camp.

My comparison for Mallory is this year’s top TE draft pick by the Dolphins from Penn St, Mike Gesecki, He’s 6’ 6” and a little underweight to be an in-line blocker. But, he’s fast and (as a former volleyball star) is a great leaper...39” vertical jump. He stretches the field and is a total mismatch for LBs and Safeties.

In combination with the more powerful Jordan, we should have a great pair of TEs for the next 3 years.

Funny you mention that as that is the exact comparison I made mentally. The two in addition to being extremely talented have the type of focus, drive and maturity that is rare to see in players that age.
 
Jordan has some speed. He ran track as a 10th grader in only one meet and posted an 11.84--100m. Kids usually reduce their times a good amount between 10 the 12 grade.

A good TE makes any QB getter as long as he uses them. Big target with hands and speed after the catch are the fix to many a crappy day.

At this point, I’ll take a Glenn Dennison. We the dude that catches those 3rd down and tight TDs passes so we don’t kick and punt so much. Can’t wait to see these two play.
 
They need to turn Brian into a MLB. Talent is getting better and better he has zero chance to play TE here

Very good point. He probably didn’t know how to drive out of the blocks. Most young kids just stand up and run. I wouldn’t be surprised if he can run 11.2 or faster by now.

No kidding. I don't think there's any alternative to putting our faith in the two FR, especially Jordan who is a built like a grown man already.
 
The last tight end we had who could block really well and was a solid target, was Bubba Franks. We talk about all of our TE's and for some reason Frank's never gets mentioned

Herndon just got drafted and you are discounting already LOL, he was a beast at blocking and a really solid receiving target

I respectfully disagree with this stance.

Herndon was above average (IMO good) tight end in every aspect of the role, including blocking. Our offensive line looked noticeably worse, once Herdon went down for the season, which to me, is a direct correlation to Herndon's good blocking abilities as a TE.
