Not gonna bash Pete on this. He can only report what he hears and is being told.

Will be interesting to find out what he finds out.....on a side note Pete WTF is up with your Columbus boys....other than bandy obviously

Thats all you got? What more could the staff have done? How is this on the staff, I'll ask again?

It's on the staff because it's their job to recruit. Couldn't be any plainer than that.

And if they're going to whiff on Jobe, then it's on them to have another All American they can replace him with.

I hope they don't try to sell us on some "under the radar" scrub like they did with Trayone Gray when we lost out on that star WR recruit a few years ago, or with Knowles when we lost another safety to Alabama.

Name a staff you would rather have? Florida just got a guy who known as an underachiever and their fourth choice, FSU just hired the black al golden who has a losing record as a head coach. We Missed on a four star corner prospect, people are quick to forget little Nicky was on a helicopter to see gurvan hall a couple months ago. Don’t think he is flipping, i thought we lost all battle with bama? No team gets every prospect no team gets all four and five star recruits. Thank god we are in Miami so the 5-10 3 stars we take a class(like almost every other power program) have a better chance to develope and succeed. Our coach just won coach of the year. If you are complaining about this coach and staff then you would prob complain that your shot is brown.

I'm pretty sure I said in another reply to you that we have the best coach/staff in America. I believe we do. But it's human nature to settle when you whiff - that's how we ended up with Knowles, Redwine, Trayone Gray, Fines, etc on our roster. My only point is that we shouldn't settle - we already have a handful of All American DB's committed - we should either swing for the fences and land the 4/5 stars like Surtain, Campbell, Samuel, or maybe someone out of state, or if we whiff then we should save the spot for next year and grab a guy like Akeem Dent.

No more taking fliers on "underrated" guys. Your ceiling is Boise State or Wisconsin if you build your roster with underrated types. You become Alabama when you build your roster with All Americans.

That’s how you end up with 70 scholarship players. Would you rather have 3 stars or walk ons as your depth? How can you say we have a great staff then turnaround and knock the guys THEY offer so you trust rivals anaylsis of players or mark Richts anaylisis of player better. Based if you think we have best staff in county i would hope you would trust the staff evaluation of players over a paid site with an agenda.

Do Smith and Wilson have commitable offers?

The only staff member I trust to find underrated gems is Coach Kool, and that's because he's earned that respect after years upon years of churning out high draft picks at Missouri. You won't see me complain if we take a 3* DT that Kool really likes. The rest of the staff are great talent developers, great coaches, and great recruiters. But I'm going to question them if they take 3 stars.

You won't fall below 70 if you actually land some of the kids you target.

NO to Kerryon Smith. Go out and get another 5 star from out of state to replace Jobe, or if you whiff you whiff. Then grab an elite guy next year. Filling up the roster with "underrated" 3 stars is what got Golden in trouble.

Hoping we don't make the same mistakes again.

South Florida 3-star is still a ****ing 3-star. We're not beating Clemson with Kerryon Smith.

Your wrong bro kid is good. Just for arguments sake name one time Alabama, clemson, FSU,Ohio State, etc have signed a class with all four and five stars? We are not on the level of these programs yet have the number two recruiting class in the nation and we still have people complaint? Hate to see what some of y’all people do when you have something go wrong at your job or in real life.

I'm sure he's good, but he's rated 3 stars for a reason.

We got Robert Knowles and Redwine as consolation prizes because we whiffed on some big safety recruits. We got Trayone Gray because we whiffed on Dalvin Cook.

And you know what guys said at that time? "Knowles is big and fast, an underrated South Florida kid who goes and balls out somewhere else blah blah". Dudes are still holding out hope for Gray, that dude was hyped up so much by this board.

Finding underrated 3 star gems is something USF or FIU should do. It shouldn't be Miami's thing. We need to be loading up our roster with All Americans, like Alabama and Ohio State.

This year's class is a good start. I'm not complaining at all about the job this staff is doing overall. They're the best staff in America.

Doesn't mean they can sleep. In Jobe's case specifically, they need to pull a Jeudy / Jeff Thomas act and find a stud replacement, not some "underrated" 3-star Knowles type.

Go watch film he is a ****ing beast. The biggest difference is we didn’t have a very good wide receiver commited when we went after thomas. We had to hit on a wide receiver or two last year player like that and we went outside the state when juedy said no. We never truly thought we had jeudy either.

Now let’s fast forward to this year. We have the best secondary class in the nation full of four stars and lockdown studs COMITTED. We can take a chance on a kid who is rated a 3 star but you look at his film and think he should be a four star from Florida(that the staff has clearly been working for over a month). Or we can drop everything and try and recruit a kid we have never thought about recruiting from another state. We don’t have the time or the resources to recruit like this no one does. I’d rather get a kid like this then one who is given a four star because the school he goes to or what coach he plays for. Watch the film then tell me you don’t want the kid with a straight face. I also trust the opinion of our coaches over a website made by a bunch of nerds looking to turn a profit.

3* Michael Jackson has planned out well

Michael Jackson was a 4 star on rivals...

Go ahead and take him off the commit list. Miami needs to cut ties with him now.

No info it I think he’s trolling bama. He’s committed to Miami and then does an interview saying there’s a 120% chance he flips? All while maintaining a commitment to Miami? And puts this out publicly? It’s too easy to say he’s gone. And he hasn’t decommitted from UM? When the visit with UM coaches is cancelled, I’ll buy it. Until then, he’s trolling bama.

Then we should try to add Campbell, Surtain, and/or Samuel, and call it a day.

Bottom line is that Miami will be "back" when we're in the top 5 on this list: https://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite

Right now, we're the 20th most talented team in college football. If we can hold this incoming class together and add one or two more, we'll bump up to the 10-15 range. Sign another loaded class in 2019 and we're talking.

But no more stuffing the roster with "underrated gems." Leave that business to USF or even Louisville. Miami should have bigger plans.[/QUOTE

Comparing apples and oranges. We are in the second year of a new coaching staff. A lot of kids transferred, were asked to leave, or went pro early. You don’t think this hurts those numbers? This is richts first true recruiting class imo and he is absolutely killing it. Yes you take three stars and don’t wait till next year. Two reasons 1. depth and 2. I don’t know about you but I was 5”9 at 18 and i am 6”2 today kids still are maturing(some kids get higher rankings based off measurables). Meat bet you get mad when you don’t win the lottery every week too? Guy is

Dude...no way - that's not how these things go.

ANOTHER KID WHO WILL REGRET THAT DECISION, Miami is home never turn your back on the home team.. Hey we all know our staff will fight this one til the end and IF he flip it's on him!!

man this kid is not Bama made, he's ***** made. Will never understand disrespecting people you claim to be fond of. Do it the way Jerry Jeudy did it or Amari. I always want the local kids to stay home. They can accomplish everything at Miami that they could at Bama. You want to go to Bama? Fine, go. Just don't troll the home town coaches and fans on your way out. Really shows a complete lack of character. If it turns out he's trolling Bama rather than us, feeling is the same. Have some respect for people that are spending endless hours and dollars on you

It's about that blue chip ratio. Over half of your roster is 4/5*, you're going to win big. This class is a big step towards that number

Sort of. But ratio is a lazy way to look at it - a lot of journalists used ratio when they relied on Rivals before 247 started publishing this list: https://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite

I say the best number to look at, now that it's available and easy to look up, is the RAW COUNT of 4/5* kids on the roster. That's because having a 3* kid on the roster isn't going to hurt you or help you (he'll just take up space), but the more All Americans you have on the team, the more talent and depth you will have.

So a team with 50 4/5* kids out of 100 total is better than a team with 40 4/5* kids out of 50, even though the second has a better ratio. The first has more talent.

If Alabama doesn't take 3 stars, I don't think Miami should be taking 3 stars. We should have just as many All Americans as they do.

Or else, don't cry when we get blown out in the ACC Championship game to teams with more talent and start blaming it on X's and O's. Recruit like the 2nd best team in the ACC, and you'll STAY the second best team in the ACC.

Recruit like a champion to become a champion.
