This is the frustrating part, Saban doesn't recruit anyone, Saban doesn't coach anyone (DB's), Saban doesn't have the relationships with anyone.

Those relationships are with your position coach and the person recruiting you. Saban is just the figure head that comes in and smiles.

Fair enough. I guess he likes Napier more than Dugans. That said, I'm not so sure that will be his position coach with Kiffin gone and he's getting one year with Ridley and then he's gone and he gets to live in a lovely community. Sounds great.

Like chise said it's bad parenting, there's no way in **** do I let my kid play in Alybamy. We take dem duffles and sign the papers for UM what they gone do tell the NCAA the tried to bribe us.

Playing in Alabama is turning kids who grew up with nothing into millionaires. I don't even think I need to bring up recent draft #'s.

You can't make money playing at UM. We've never had anyone drafted in the first round.

But I thought you said Dugans (position coach) was one of the few people he actually trusted? This is becoming contradictory. I do understand what you are saying about his relationship with Ridley playing a huge role, but as far as position coaches go...it was pretty clearly stated that Dugans was a big plus for the good guys.

You guys aren't acting as if you don't understand how relationships work.

If your choosing between two women, most would choose the one that your most comfortable with giving all other variables are equal.

What other variables do you speak of?

* The person he looks up to plays for 'Bama
* The coach who recruited the person you look up to is recruiting you
* The team that has been recruiting you since 10th grade, just happens to be the best team in the country
* Seeing the person you look up to wearing a NC ring has a big impact
* Seeing the person you look up to with a potential 1st round draft grade has a huge impact on you

These are just a few variables................

You can just as easily make convincing/compelling bullet points favoring Miami.

One variable doesn't favor Miami though.

Pretty much every variable was Ridley related. But Ridley told him he'd be better off at Miami. Hmmm

And that he's only there for 1 more year. So, that's part of it. The other relationship is with Cuban Alf. I'm guessing it's a better relationship than Dugans. :\

gave miami a shot to drive up the price for bama and make sure the bag was sufficiently heavy

kid was not coming here idc what any of you say. the 'decision' was a farce

this recruiting battle was won last yr

Variables are equal?????? thats some dumb **** right there. Zero variables are equal here. Bama is on top of the football world and he committed to trying to make them the greatest college team ever. Miami has struggled for over a decade and he could have committed to staying home and taking down that Klan organization. Instead of betting on his home team and being a local legend, he chose to be a piece of the machine that is already in place. He took the easy route. **** aint about money or relationships. **** his **** ***

Clearly you didn't see my prior post before responding...................

Let it go Tweed.

Your boy has decided to take an easier path - that's his prerogative. There's no need to defend his decision on a Canes message board. You're never going to win.

Exactly.

Good luck sir, and thanks for the information.

It was fun while it lasted.

Relationships blah...

If I took 200K to Juedys house today, told him
He gets 50K today, and the other 150K when he signs with Miami, I guarantee you he signs with Miami.

So he picked Bama because he wants to play with someone he looks up to for 1 year........sounds like a smart kid

Guysm, he'll have better relationships and support system at a school 800 miles away than one 50 miles away.

Someone above already referenced it, but the relationships thing makes no sense when it was stated a day or two ago that Dugans was one of the 5 most trusted people in his life. He's just another kid who couldn't resist the shortcut. I rarely get fooled by these deals after following recruiting all these years but have to admit that I thought he was perhaps cut from a different cloth.

Try using that pitch of dudes who got drafted 10+ years ago to a 17 year old kid. While you're at it you can mention big name Phillip Dorsett to them as well.

I do acknowledge Hurns busted his *** and made it in the NFL (although the dude was good here too). My point is, and this is not specifically geared towards you, some of us Canes fans are straight up living in the past.

The whole thing's an LOL.

Variables, relationships, bag men, this really isn't as hard as all that. It's just not.

Your competition was the #1 college football program in the country, they've won 3/5 last national championships and they had over a year head start on you recruiting wise.

The other team, you like a lot about. They turned one freshman into a freshman all American at your position. There's a lot to like, you consider them seriously but they haven't been relevant in practically your entire life.

It's not much of a headscratcher when the #1 WR chooses the #1 program.

I hate moral victories, that's loser mentality, but take in the information you had. You got him from a 0% chance to 50%? Great progress, but now figure out what you need to do to get the 50% you left on the table.
