So he picked Bama because he wants to play with someone he looks up to for 1 year........sounds like a smart kid

Yeah. That's why he picked Alabaga. Even though Ridley told him UM was the right place for him.

Alabaga said he could start right away at Outside check collector, and they might even try him out at the Slot check collector spot depending on how he did in camp

Who said that Ridley told him Miami was the best place. Was it Tweed? Curious if it was reputable or just some more with internet access.

Serious question: why is JJ going to Alabama considered a "short cut"? If he got money, so be it. Whatever amount he got (I'm not saying he did, but if he did), will be spent during his time in college. It's not enough to live on for long. So if he goes to Bama, he has to compete with a stable of WRs who were the top kids in the country and play in an offense that doesn't throw as much as Miami. He might not see the field at all in 2017. If he goes to UM, he absolutely will play in 2017, and he may even start in 2017.

I don't think either of his choices are "short cuts" or "the easy way out". But I really am curious out of UM and Bama, why would choosing Bama be the "short cut." If anything a lot of things will have to happen for him to play in 2017 at Bama.

If he got money? That's a laugh! They should just delete this thread, he's not a Cane forget about him.

Easy answer - it was a business decision in the sense that Bama could guarantee two things that Miami could not necessarily guarantee - championship pedigree and national exposure for the next level. I assume JJ's ultimate goal is to get to the league and at the end of the day, he saw Bama as the safest/easiest way there.

Peter Ariz mentioned it, if I recall..

Like chise said it's bad parenting, there's no way in **** do I let my kid play in Alybamy. We take dem duffles and sign the papers for UM what they gone do tell the NCAA the tried to bribe us.

Playing in Alabama is turning kids who grew up with nothing into millionaires. I don't even think I need to bring up recent draft #'s.

You can't make money playing at UM. We've never had anyone drafted in the first round.

Try using that pitch of dudes who got drafted 10+ years ago to a 17 year old kid. While you're at it you can mention big name Phillip Dorsett to them as well.

I do acknowledge Hurns busted his *** and made it in the NFL (although the dude was good here too). My point is, and this is not specifically geared towards you, some of us Canes fans are straight up living in the past.

You're right, BamaCane. UM is incapable of producing high draft picks.

I don't recall Pete saying definitively that Ridley said UM was the "best place" for him, I recall it being more softly worded than that. Either way, Ridley telling him UM was the "best place" for him, short of a direct quote from either of the two should be regarded as highly speculative.

And LMFAO at choosing Alabama as taking the "easy way out."

Yeah, that Tom Brady is a real puss always resigning with the Pats. I love the crooting board.

You guys aren't acting as if you don't understand how relationships work.

If your choosing between two women, most would choose the one that your most comfortable with giving all other variables are equal.

Variables are equal?????? thats some dumb **** right there. Zero variables are equal here. Bama is on top of the football world and he committed to trying to make them the greatest college team ever. Miami has struggled for over a decade and he could have committed to staying home and taking down that Klan organization. Instead of betting on his home team and being a local legend, he chose to be a piece of the machine that is already in place. He took the easy route. **** aint about money or relationships. **** his **** ***

Clearly you didn't see my prior post before responding...................

* The person he looks up to plays for 'Bama
* The coach who recruited the person you look up to is recruiting you
* The team that has been recruiting you since 10th grade, just happens to be the best team in the country
* Seeing the person you look up to wearing a NC ring has a big impact
* Seeing the person you look up to with a potential 1st round draft grade has a huge impact on you

These are just a few variables................

This makes total sense. Thank you for putting things in perspective for us. Unfortunately, some of us get too emotional and want to deny the reality of the situation. Hopefully, Miami can establish strong relationships with future prospects and win some big games to reel in these elite SFLA prospects.

You people need help...

This thread reads like the carved in wall writing of an abandoned insane asylum.

...but LCE, he tweeted that he was "Thinking Hard."

But doesn't he get more exposure at UM because he gets significantly more playing time at UM?

Maybe maybe not. That's where Bama's last ditch sales pitch comes into play. I'm sure they sold JJ on being "the man" next year and besides, after Kayaa is a big unknown. Not saying I agree with that logic, just saying what probably went through his mind and in the Bama sales pitch.

You pvssy *** fake UM fans are all about eating that Bama butt. Slurp it out with some jelly. Keep telling us why it's the place to be for recruits.

LOL at recruiting veterans thinking Alabaga had some magical pitch. Are you cats really this naive? Virtually every part of this equation should have favored UM. Yet his "heart" is in TusKKKaloosa. LOL

It has been funny watching tweed tripping all over his own posts in an attempt to act like this kid didn't just completely play Miami for a steak dinner and a heavier duffel bag from bama.
