2024 Jayden Jackson 4* DT from IMG is a Sooner

Dosnt even matter in this case. We a re talkin about a kid that is a TF on a decent sec defense that is getting good burn. In two yrs he is probably an all acc player if he contines to develop.
It does matter. The statistic without context is meaningless. That was the point of my comment.

To what you said, Oklahoma's defense is not decent - they stink. Did you watch the Texas game? They're ranked #48 in yards allowed per game (337.8 allowed per game, or 0.2 yards per game better than Sam Houstom State). Miami's D that gets crushed on this board is ranked #14, allowing 282.5 ypg. That leads to this question.....Why is he "getting good burn"? Because the defense he plays on sucks. That doesn't mean he sucks. It does mean though that projecting him as an all ACC player based on the non-criteria you listed is a statement produced by frijoles and tortillas.

Oklahomas defense is good and their offense is straight trash like worse than FSU trash.

It's not good. They are bottom half against the pass (77th ypg) and slightly better against the run (28th ypg). I could post links, but they don't show the numbers you want to see, so what's the point. You've already made your mind up and I don't feel like arguing with you. Carry on.

YPG is not the stat you want to look at when judging what Oklahoma is doing on defense.

They give up 19 PPG while being on the field for more plays than most teams. According to advanced metrics they are really **** good on a play-to-play basis, they aren't great against the pass, but they aren't terrible either. I imagine some of their struggles to contain explosive pass plays are due to fatigue since they are 94th in plays per game.

They are stellar against the run and since we are discussing an interior D Lineman I think that supports the idea that this kid is a big-time talent starting as a TF.

You don't feel like arguing because you are wrong.

I don't feel like arguing because you're dead set that their defense is decent and you've dismissed anything I've sent your way to the contrary (Your stats don't count, mine do). You don't want to consider the possibility thay maybe there's an element of truth to what I'm saying. Therefore, arguing is simply going to result in you digging in further. It's ok, we can still be friends. I'm just not sharing my GI Joe with you.

You've softened your stance slightly as you've replied - now the passing numbers aren't great (they stink) even though you think they're not terrible. I know you're not completely unreasonable. I also don't feel like digging through all the stats, citing specific game clips, etc. to prove I'm right and you're wrong. My ego rating in EA Sports right now is slightly fatigued/disengaged, so if you need to be right, good for you; be right. It's not that important for me....this time.

We also have a room full of talented young DL that I believe are as good or better than he is, since we're talking about hypothetically getting Jayden to transfer in. Omitting that part, in order to "prove" you're right, is disingenuous. But, alas, you're right. We should take Jayden.

Lastly, p00p jokes, dad jokes, and inappropriately adding sexual connotation to otherwise boring commentary is more my thing. I'm not in the mood for Cane on Cane warfare today.

Are we losing Artavious Jones and I didn't hear about it? Next season we will have the following returning at DT....
Justin Scott
Ahmad Moten
Josh Horton
Artavious Jones
Armando Blount(May play inside/out)
Akeem Mesidor(If he comes back)

We need to add 2 via the portal and have 3+ as true freshmen in order to get to good numbers at the position. Elite high school recruiting will be what makes or breaks us ultimately. Right now this DT class isn't up to snuff. It needs to get there by December.
In this portal era, you can't really even count on the young DTs on our team will return. Hopefully they will because I think they have a lot of potential but we shall see.

Don't waste your time with anyone that still looks at YPG to judge a defense.

I'm with you. I think the actual number will be 2 DTs in the portal, maybe 3 depending on what Mesidor does. I can't see Miami going after 4 DTs. The portal will be thin dry with everybody chasing DTs.

Hopefully Jayden Jackson jumps into the portal after this seasonsuccessful OU implosion. Miami will need long term help at NT after this year.

Go Canes

He doesn’t play NT for OU and I really doubt he would leave there to play NT here.

Also don’t think he would jump in the portal unless Todd Bates leaves.
