All 3 will play. This is 2024. If you don’t play them they leave. That’s how it works. Even if your statement is correct. Those 3 aren’t ready to play. Jones and Blount will probably rs

Your post makes sense to me. However, my only question about this strategy is would we still end up with an uneven roster? It may not be uneven talent wise, but it’s uneven with experience wise. So by the time the entire roster is ready, Francis and Samson Juniors or Seniors.
Also, if we have a good DL class one year, skip the next year and then the following year attack it again wouldn’t you potentially risk having a drop off in talent?
I don’t think this how the top programs (Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, etc.) recruit.
Yes Blount young and needs to get bigger and jones has size and physical tools but needs to put it all togetherReally?
Ok.
They won’t play. They aren’t playing 8 DTs unless a lot of injuries happenAll 3 will play. This is 2024. If you don’t play them they leave. That’s how it works. Even if your statement is correct.
Seem like DB is the focus this year. Year one it was o-line and LB. Year 2 it was Wr and D-LineAfter a haul like last season we should not expect UM to put a great deal of NIL investment into DTackle this season.
What it looks like to me is that UM is identifying positions of national strength in recruiting, and comparing that to positions of needs on the team. When the 2 align, Francis and Samson 2 years ago and Dline last season, UM goes all in. This season I would argue UM has need and believes their is recruiting depth at DB and WR, and is targeting those 2 positions.
The basic point being when you see a great return at a position in a recruiting cycle, do not expect the same return at the same position the following recruiting cycle. It is more like drafting players than recruiting players. If a team spends a lot of draft capital in season 1, they are very unlikely to spend similar draft capital in season 2.
I would add that this strategy makes a lot of sense IMO.
You are probably right. I keep buying into the CIS WR narrative, as though we didn’t bring in Trader, Carr and Robinson last cycle.Seem like DB is the focus this year. Year one it was o-line and LB. Year 2 it was Wr and D-Line

Scott will play. Blount will absolutely play. Jones idk what they do. But I think he gets his feet wet also. Those 3 DTs are better than some of the 8 we have on the roster. And Blount can play D end also. Can’t see a talent like him after coming a year early shirting in todays college football. 20 years ago we would shift a lot more kids. They won’t play. Cook Moton and Horton are not better talents than Scott and Blount who came early and can play inside outside. These kids also can play 4 games and still shirt. All will play. Side note I’ve been waiting for years to have this argument with the DT position so no matter what it’s a win. But in todays college climate I bet at the least two of them will play. They may play, sure. But there's no way Mario/Guidry are going to risk losses on guys who aren't ready, even if they're 5-stars with expensive NIL contracts. So if/when they come in, it will be because the game has been settled already.
Exactly. They're not starting ahead of Clark and Barrow for sure. And are highly unlikely to be more reliable than Cook, Moten and Horton until at least several game in. So they won't get game-meaningful snaps unless we see multiple injuries or we are ahead by 30 points midway through the third quarter. The latter scenario I'm hoping will happen on more than a few games. ... Also, remember that we'll be playing 3-4 DEs on a lot of snaps, too.
Blount isn’t playing. Who is he playing over? They not going to play 6 or 7 DEs either. Those top 4 DEs are going to eat up all the snaps and it looks like Bryant is going to be the 5th guyScott will play. Blount will absolutely play. Jones idk what they do. This way of recruiting is not sustainable long term imo. Once we are more established and can recruit easier after actually winning, balancing the classes by position will be important.Seem like DB is the focus this year. Year one it was o-line and LB. Year 2 it was Wr and D-Line

This isnt a situation where trust the evals or there is plenty of serviceable supply in the transfer portal.
Cant use the same excuse of bc we got 5 stars last year we arent able to recruit DT this year. DT's need to be an every year position that is recruited highly. More so than any other position.
Elite Dynamic X Wr's and big boy DT's are positions that are not abundant in the portal or cost an exaggerated amount along with heavy competition from the big boy programs. This position needs to improve in recruiting if we want to be elite.
I will say though our location does hamper our recruiting with the big boy DT's but need to close.
Agree. Nobody talks about Chance. I think he's going to be a good oneLast years haul at WR is criminally underrated. Three studs (pause). We’re going to be fine and land really good WRs this cycle as well. Remember this time last year Carr I don’t even think was on the radar (to fans) and ended up flipping from UGA.
It’s just to flip the room quicker. Not like they are avoiding other positions. Like year 1 they took a lot of o-linemen and LBs. Year 2 it was a big d-line class and they wanted smith with the wr class. This year I’m guessing it will be a big DB classThis way of recruiting is not sustainable long term imo. They rotate players he’s gonna play. Come find me in October. This isn’t 1997Blount isn’t playing. Who is he playing over? They not going to play 6 or 7 DEs either. Those top 4 DEs are going to eat up all the snaps and it looks like Bryant is going to be the 5th guy
Don’t give a dàmn what year it is. There is something called common sense and facts. Nobody is playing 14 d-linemen in a game. Those kids aren’t going to play so deal with itThey rotate players he’s gonna play. Come find me in October. This isn’t 1997
