James Coley

I don't want to jump on the pile here, so, before I say anything negative, I have to ask: Are adjustments allowed, or are you forced to stick to the same gameplan regardless?

only adjustment golden has made is to his belt size

Yup. Although, in his defense, I'd drink heavily too if I was coach at this University, and my best friend couldn't spell P-O-T-A-T-O.

I've been saying it for a while now but Coley worries me just as much as the moron running our defense.

Offense is ridiculously simplistic and the playcalling isn't conducive to sustaining drives, moving the chains, or creating momentum.

Run, run, playaction over the top. It's great when it works...it's a 3 and out ALOT of the time.

The middle of field is completely ignored. I know Morris sucks but I've watched every snap of every game multiple times and I can count on one hand the number of screens that were thrown to the rb's. Mind you that includes the period of time we actually had Duke. No slants, no short or intermediate drags, digs, and seam routes.

You know who loves Onfrio more than anyone? Homeboy Coley...cause the level of ineptitude that fat **** exhibits simply keeps the attention off of him, for now.

Both of these coordinators are playing checkers while our opponents are playing chess. And both of these guys are Golden's responsibility. This season is going to going to be the final nail in the coffin for Golden. If he stands pat and does nothing then he simply has no chance of every being a decent coach. Handpicking a quality staff is one of the most important things a good head coach must be able to do.

I'll give Coley another year and see how the offense performs with a competent ******* QB. Still laughing at that *** tard throwing a screen pass 5 yds behind Dorsett, causing a 20 yd loss.

They're not bright enough to be considered playing checkers. These ******** are playing Connect 4.

Don't take this as me dis-likey your post, but, in Coley's defense, setting things up off the run generally helps when...I dunno, you actually have a running game. Our depth after Duke is turrible. Maybe the UNC game made everyone give a pass on that, but, nevertheless, its true.

Understood but timing is everything when it comes to running the ball in today's college game.

For example...don't run into 8 man fronts with constant blitzes (like we saw ALL DAY today from Louisville). Here's a doozy of thought...how about passing as an extension of the run game just to get those blitzes off your *** and make the other coordinator at least double think his playcalling. What Coley did today was the equivalent of an entire baseball team going up to bat with specific instructions not to swing...hoping eventually the pitches would stop throwing strikes and we'd all get on base via walks.

Sorry...but the system lacks any sort of imagination or creativity. I'm a dumb *** accountant who sits in front of his TV and notices that thing like every time Malcolm Lewis is in the game, we run the ball ( go back and double check this yourself).

If my dumb *** who doesn't do this for a living spots tendencies like this...what else do you think someone like Charlie Strong would spot?

It's amateur hour for BOTH these coordinators...and forgive me but I don't find any of it particularly funny.

And that's the excuse/mulligan for 2014. He won't have a compentant QB, most likely, he will have a QB who couldn't beat out a terrible Morris.

This is the problem. For over ten years, having a rotten season is the excuse for having a rotten season the next year, and so on.

single biggest disappointment of this game is coach Coley IMO. His unit looked unprepared. There was nothing new. No new wrinkles, no trick plays, nothing.

What's worst was how the D coordinator for UL made coley look like an unranked amateur. Coley loves to run the offense from the sidelines doing all of the audibling himself. Tonight UL's DC had his defense stay in the standing position walking around so Coley could not audible in anything. It was varsity versus JV among the coordinators tonight.

This. I can't stand that looking to the sidelines ****. Line up and play. If your Senior QB can't figure it out, then what the **** are you teaching him, and why is he playing? The UL DL thing would've been funny if it wasn't so pathetic. They were walking around three yards off the line of scrmmage and Snickers and the offense is just standing there. WTF. Checkers versus chess. JV is being kind.

Funny how coley leaves and FSU realizes they have TEs...he comes here and they become virtually non-existent
They were non existent here before he got here. Everything comes down to the QB on offense for me. Our QB sucks. I mean really sucks. It gets compounded by our ****** O-line. Amazing amount of 3 & outs and that compounds our defensive weaknesses. Viscous cycle. Basically it seems we suck everywhere. I think I'm gonna be sick.

It's true. Like the Guard tapping the Centers ***. I 'd like to play poker with those guys, and I don't even play poker.

Though he didnt call a great game, morris played like crap and had no passion or energy

I dont like to speculate but i think coley made the play book simple for morris

Morris mentally isnt that great of a QB, physically he can play with the best of them, fisch's play calling last year covered his mental mistakes

Ill give coley a pass this year if its the same next year i will question the play calling

He didn't call plays at FSU. Another red flag that was ignored when he got hired.
he didnt call plays but was responsible for the.offensive gameplan.

Is that a fact?

Just sounds like BS to prop up a guy that just held offensive meetings because Jimbo couldnt be everywhere. Why have a guy gameplan....but not call plays? Conversely, why would you want to call plays off of someone else's gameplan?

Jimbo runs the whole offensive show at FSU, Jimbo said coley helped with some game planning, but coley's job at FSU was to recruit

Wildcat and Jedi are speaking truth in this thread. Morris wasn't good this year but laugh when people say he ignores the middle of the field. He ignores it because no one is there, we don't have routes available he can throw to.

We will know more next year but I always got the vibe that Coley didn't trust Morris at all to use the middle of the field. I also hope that Coley kept it simple for him. I know its a small chance but it is all I have to hold onto.
