James Coley

Sorry it's a leap some of you guys are making. There isnt a conspiracy theory involved in everything.

What is the theory here regarding Coley's involvement?

I don't have any theories as much as I have my suspicions.
Having followed college football for a few minutes, and having been somewhat of a coaching-tree nerd over the years,
I've learned that coaching changes don't happen out of the blue.
It is all about networks and who you know.
I think we know that Coley is tight with Cristobama, having not only worked together at FIU, but being from Miami
as well (albeit, from different high schools).
We also know that Coley worked for Saban at l$u and later with the Fins.
Too many links there.
Golden's head need to be on a swivel, especially if/when Alabama's current OC takes another
job.

Originally, I expected Mario to be here one year and Coley to be here maybe two years. Haven't thought through how Mario's leaving impacts his tenure, but I understood that Mario being here is a big reason Coley came to UM in the first place.

Those we're my exact thoughts, Cristoball I thought one year tops (should have said month).

Mario is a terrible Xs and Os dude, good recruiter and is now a backstabber (employers love this).

What worries me is we have no real idea what Coley is as an Xs and Os dude. I'm still skeptical of that hire.

I agree. I don't care that he's a great recruiter. Those are a dime a dozen. A good Xs and Os guy like Fisch? Not so much. Fisch didn't break a sweat recruiting - he didn't need to...he was a great OC.

As for Coley, I have always been underwhelmed by FSU's offesne. I know Jimbo dictates quite a bit, but I'm not seeing where Coley made his mark there.

i was not overly thrilled with either the cristobal or coley hires and somewhat less than ecstatic over hurlie brown too. Not sure I am following Golden's hiring decisions of late.

lol coley is gonna go where? he hasnt proven anything in terms of being an OC other than his terrible stint at FIU (mostly FIUs fault for not having any talent but thats pretty much all he has). He still needs to prove himself first before thinking bout bolting. he also left his alma mater for the same position at UM. i wouldnt put him in the same category as mario

coley didnt do much there except recruit and make game plans supposedly (help at least). jimbo ran the offense as a whole and well u see how that offense performed this year w a championship caliber D

That is what I said when he was only a name. I wouldn't have put him on any list of candidates because I didn't think it made sense and I was skeptical.

If Cristobal leaves to be a HC at a Major Program next Coley will go with him IMO.

What is the theory here regarding Coley's involvement?

They were friends for along time so obviously Coley is an FSU mole who will ruin our program from within.

I don't have a specific theory re: Coley and Cristobal's departure. What I have is a theory that these guys were/are here to use and abuse.

Please expound. So who would benefit? FSU and Bama?

They are/were here to benefit themselves at the expense of the University of Miami. This is distinguished from other coaches who may come here (or to any program) for a mutual benefit.

Better now than in Dec/Jan after next season when HC jobs open.

Anyone else see the cloud of Randy Shannon never leaving this program?
