2025 J’Vari "Jrock" Flowers 4* CB from Northwestern is a Gator

There is no way he’s asking for starting WR money..I don’t understand why we can’t just pay the kid as a 26 recruit and take one less DB this year
It seems like he's asking for the value of a portal cb1, which is definitely costly. I honestly have no idea how that compares to WR, but the point of my post is that we all have our portal wish lists for the spring and we can't take everyone

I don't see paying the kid that amount of bread if it's gonna take 2 years for him to see the field or he doesn't improve the return game on day one

How would you know what he will do or how long it will take before he's on campus?

I mean...I don't...but you'd think it'd take a high school junior some time bro. Not everyone is Ryan Williams
In some aspects yes, but speed and agility tend to translate in the return game. Maybe he is in the portal 8 months from now, but I think you used an unfair scale. If he is hungry to succeed and stays healthy he could also have an immediate impact.

Agree. Seems every time we lose a recruit it’s always just the NIL is too big while hearing our NIL is great.

Nooooo...that's not what was said.

All things being equal, in a vacuum, for one player, THE NIL IS NOT TOO BIG.

All things considered, we do not appear willing to meet the price on this one.

There's a pretty big difference between your oversimplication and what is actually happening.

Why don’t we make him an offer now to enter the transfer portal next season? Until he signs with a university, it can’t be “tampering”. So if I was UM, I would let him know what I can pay him for the 2026 season based on the DB budget for 2026. Let him go to some other school and ride the bench or maybe get some PT on special teams. And then we can get him out of the transfer portal next season. Sure the risk exists that he will like the school he attends and not want to transfer. But it is amazing how minds are changed when the money is right (see Myles Garrett).

Any reason why a school can’t make this type of deal 1-2 years in advance? As noted, I don’t see why it would be tampering if it’s done in advance as I am proposing.
