MJ- Miami leads, Nebraska is the only threat( his sister runs track there) maybe July-August commit. If Miami loses him they may punt on QB this cycle

Linebacker is done unless Davis wants in

Miami exploring a bunch of Cb's( Couch, Davis, Dixon, Steele, JS

Bogle is Miami/Tenn battle, believes, Miami won mom over

Safety- taking 3 of Smith, Stevenson, Battle, Richards

RB- Taking one more( Kenny, Sanders, Cain) believes Kenny is the most likely

Wr- 1 more( Dunmore, TJ Jones, Haselwood) uphill battle for Dunmore and Haselwood

Te- Miami feels good about Zipp

Ol- Miami in good shape will Neal- need Wright and Putnam to visit to take seriously

I'd hate to punt on QB. And I'd love to see what we do at RB if both McIntosh and Sanders want in.

/I don't think McIntosh's best position is RB

Sounds like we don’t mind taking an L at QB due to the depth we have. Sounds like a move to keep everyone from Transferring (Wade/Kosi). Could be wrong but that’s what it sounds like.

Also seems like Brown didn’t have a place in this class which made sense him committing to USCe. Don’t see how we can get Rian Davis with Dawg teeth sunk into him. We should still pursue a true MLB.

I’m sure we’d take a 3rd RB is Kenny commits and it’s sanders or Cain. But it seems like we are content.

Looks like we will take an L at WR too.

I know these are just Ivins words but once again it seems the approach to Surge 19 was to filler class between 18 and 20.

This Surge19' group will be one that we will be happy with once the dust settle, it's still real early "we just headed into the summer for this class", Miami's staff have plenty time to evaluate and get after recruit's!! The Paradise Camp has always helped Miami's recruitment and I don't expect nothing less this year..

Once the season gets under way and our Canes start to put on for the world to see that "Miami is truly back", we will see recruit's jumping on board.. At the end of the day, Miami will get this Surge19' class right and it will be a star studded bunch!!

Personally i dnt mind passing on qb this cycle. I think we need to solidify the trenches on both sides of the ball and take a large number on both Oline and Dline. I stated on another thread we needed 11 big uglies 4 oline n 7 dline if we are not taking a qb i would change that num to 12. 5 oline 7 dline.

What Ivins also said about QB that the OP did not put in there was that if they whiff on MJJ then they'd probably look at the transfer market for a QB after the season.

Why would we look at a transfer? I suppose if its a kid that has to sit a year? But why would they come here if we end up with JWill or Nkosi starting this year? I mean, if you are happy with those two and the job you did recruiting them then why waste a scholly on a kid your not in love with as a prospect? I am fine with no QBs in this class. I think Jarren will be the man, and he will hold it down for at least a couple of seasons. Let get MOAR DL/OL!!!!!!

Although it may go against conventional wisdom, if UM doesn’t get the guy they want they can afford skipping on a QB this class with 3 Freshman QB’s going into next season, 1 of which can redshirt.

If it backfires, they can quickly pivot for a stopgap because every year you have 2 to 3 quality graduate transfer as well as 3 to 4 formerly highly rated young QB’s transfering due to being buried in a depth chart.

I would not call it an L. We have one of the elite WR in the state probably top 2 committed in Payton and couple that with the haul from last year and we are sitting pretty there.

Ugh. Don't like the sound of that.

I posted this in another thread about QB but there’s a real chance that one of Perry/Weldon transfers after this year once the depth chart is solidified and they realize they won’t see the field.

That leaves us with Perry/Weldon and Williams going into next year. That can’t happen. We need a QB recruit or a transfer.

Ivins on Paradise camp. He said the staff was gonna be more selective inviting only targeted recruits and uncommitables for evals.

Also said this would be the most star studded coaches.

Ok, now that's entirely different then. Thank for including that tidbit of info.

Give me more trench monsters if we aren't that high on some of the QBs this cycle. I'm sure they will take a QB, maybe a PWO, if MJJ goes elsewhere. Either way, mediocre to average QB play can get you into the playoffs consistently, but mediocre to average line play cannot.
